Well it depends... I would like to get a nice size bag full to store for a while. I would prefer not to spend to much. What woud you sell a grocery bag full of leaves for? I was hoping to find someone who wouldn't mind getting rid of them for the price of shipping plus maybe a few extra bucks for the effort, considering that I could probably go hunt and jack some from somebodies yard... Also consider any leaves not plucked will be dead and falling off here soon with the season changing.
I have been looking like crazy for one around town to take advantage of, but the only one I have found is on a golf course where I know they spray pesticides.

Just take a walk around your neighborhood and take a few from each tree. Fall is coming here in Canada, so people don't care if I grab an armload (saves them raking them up in a few weeks)
I've had success freezing them in big bags. (they just dry out a little faster than fresh)

Joe, try to go to your local park or simply walk around.
Mulberry tree is abundant in California.
I went to a walk around my neighborhood and already found at least 4 big trees at my neighbor's yard.
Mulberry is usually considered a nuisance by normal people (who don't have to worry about silkies) since that tree loves to shed its leaves. Mostly, they will be glad to give the leaves for you.

Thanks everyone! I actually did some lurking on my way home and found a school that had a few really big Mulberrys in front. The leaves were real high though...and I had to nonchalantly run and leap and grap a hand full. But I got them and the the silkies are Grubbin' down! I also posted a craigslist add around lunch and recieved quite a few responses of people willing to help, give me branches, and one guy even said he has babies spouting up in his yard a lot, and that he would transplant one for me into a pot so I could grow it! It was kinda fun hunting the Giant Mulberry leaf.

Yep. Lots of California schools have Mulberry trees. They use them for their classroom silkworm projects. I worked a deal with the local elementary school to trade some silkworms for free, year-round access to their 3 Mulberry trees. It's funny how you don't notice these trees. I drove by one of them for a thousand years before I spotted it.

Freezing does not work. Leaf tissue breaks down and becomes mush after thaw. I've kept leaves in fridge for up to two weeks. But silkworms usually mow through a ziplock freezer bag full, pretty fast. It's all about supply and demand.

there are many species of mulberry trees? what kind of tree leafs do they eat?

Silkworms prefer white mulberry (morus alba - also known as russian mulberry). But they can and probably will eat all members of the mulberry family. The red mulberry is the most common in the US. This is all from wikipedia btw.
