Friendly Panther?

Sometimes when I go to feed my panther he grabs my hand and it seems as though he wants to come out. If I don't let him come out he just puts his hands on the glass (I have a wooden Viv with glass doors) and tries to climb up the doors. Before I bought him he was at the rep shop for a few months and they said he liked to come out a lot there too, so I just put it down to
His behaviour. I know that people say not to relate them to human feelings but maybe he does like to be out of his Viv?
His stat is set between 85 - 88 from a 100wat bulb.
What is the general feeling of this? Is it something I should be concerned about?

If he's used to having time out of the terrarium he'll want it. Probably why he grabs at your hands too...he wants OUT! A glass terrarium is more confusing for them as they keep trying to get past the invisible barrier to the room they can see. If he paws at the glass a lot of the time its going to frustrate him. While chams are not wired to desire a lot of interaction with people, many are accustomed to it and there's no reason why you shouldn't. They vary in how social they want to be.

Our 9 month panther loves to come out as well. He is in a very heavily planted 36" X18" x 52" terrarium. I wonder if in the wild this is the time period which they may look to leave their birth area to find a new territory of their own?

That could be a good point! I let mine come out and he likes to climb up our plants!

My panther does exactly the same! Not climbing on me so often, he just started to practice that with me but I think he learned that if he climbs up on my arm I'll move him to his free range :)

Wow he is a real looker. His eyes look a little sunk in are you sure he is getting plenty to drink? Is his urates white?

They will learn to associate coming out of the cage with good things. My guy knows he'll get at least 1 of 3 treats.

1) Superworm
2) Natural sunlight
3) Free ranging tree

Thanks, and yeah, I'm working on that one. I've had him for three weeks now and I he wasn't drinking but I think that may have been due to moving to a new Viv and surroundings. His urates were orangey when he last went but I'm waiting on next time he goes to check what they're like now. He's looking better than he was there now I've got a dripper in there for him.
