Frightened?

Hi.
Got Woody 2 weeks ago. He always hides and runs away when i go near the tank whether its to feed him or spray him. Its like hes so scared of me. I know he will be still settling in to his new move with me but is this quite normal to be like this? Other people in here seem to have good relationships with their chams and photos are happy. Woody just seems so scared and grumpy i hope he gets better and relaxes soon what do u guys think?

What sort of an enclosure do you have him in? Sometimes that makes a difference in their confidence level.

Veileds are often just grumpy, aggressive chameleons. Unfortunately, it may just be his personality. He will need time to get used to his surroundings before he will show his true personality and be either friendly or unfriendly. Right now, he is stressed out and probably still uncertain whether you will eat him or not.

I've had BJ for since may, hes does the same thing like urs.
Try moving really slow when going 2 him, sometime it works 4 me.

i agree if enclosure isnt high enough he will always be nervous but if he can get a good 7foot off ground make much happier i would think lots off cover up high especially

When I got my Veiled he was shy too. He was 3 months old when I got him. He was also always hidding like yours. He never hissed or tried to bite when he was young. But now when he is over 1 year old he never hides he just stays where he is and if I come 2 close he hisses and if I come even closer he tries to bite me.

So he changed in that 1 year. From scared and shy to angry and agressive. Your cham will settle down and get used to you soon. You will see.

No, the chameleon i have in my foto is YUM YUM he died he was a sweetheart and gorgeous! Woody is beautiful too but its upsetting that he doesnt seem to like me. I hope he does come out of his shell like you say caus that would be good. He has a wooden enclosure with glass doors. Its 4 foot high. He eats very little and only eats when im not in the house...hes a funny wee thing. Time will tell i suppose
