Hello I just got a pet panther chameleon from the pet store but they don’t know what the sex is. I was hoping that someone here might know. Also can anyone tell what color it might be once it reaches its adult age? Thank you in advance.

Ok thank you guys. The place I got it from thought it was a male which is why I got it but it looks like they lied to me or just didn’t know what they were talking about. So do you think it will stay these colors or will develop more colors as she gets older.

I don't know a lot about panther chameleons but usually places like Petco and PetSmart don't know enough about chameleons to identify their gender.

When I brought the one photographed above the pet store had two. I went with this one because they thought the other chameleon was a girl and the one I have is a boy. But since everyone is saying the one I have is actually a girl, then in that case I would rather have the other chameleon. Which one would you guys prefer to have. I still have the option to return or exchange the chameleon I have for the other. Here is a picture of the other chameleon. If they are both girls then which would you take.

Both are girls. In all honesty, I prefer females over males, although they require more care. Females require a laybin, but I prefer them due to their sweet personalities. I have a male currently, and used to have a female, and my little girl was much kinder than my current cham.

yea I have came to the conclusion that they are females. And I use to have a male veiled chameleon and he was very mean. This female I have is very nice and never hisses or tries to bite me. But I’m curious which one would you get. Would you keep the one I have now or get the reddish one? I’m so indecisive on what to do.

Id keep the one you have now. Not all chameleons are the same, and even if its a female I would not take a chance of changing it out for a possibly angrier cham. However, it is up to you. Pick the one you like best, and give it the best home possible.

Ok thank you very much. You have been very helpful. I greatly appreciate your input. As well as the input from everyone else who commented on this post.

The redder female at the store is closer to being receptive, if she isn't already. Your female will change to these colors as she matures. Neither will stay this color. They will cycle through receptive/nonreceptive/gravid colors.
