Congrats on the new addition. Looks like you got a good set up for your little guy :)

Just a few tips, Lower your basking temp. 95º is super hot for a 3 month old panther. Mine is at around high 80's to about 91º max and he's 7 months. Also your enclosure is alittle big for him, but it'll work. You just need to monitor him eating. So i suggest hand feeding/cup feeding till he's old enough to hunt on his own. And, I noticed you said you got "him" from a reptile shop. Are you positive it's a boy? Could you show us some pictures? This is very common for people to get females.

Also be sure the highest point is his basking spot. I noticed some chams only basks at the highest point of the cage. Also be sure to give him a few options of different levels. The basking light should be atleast 8 inches away from the basking spot. I use a 75watt bulb but it's about 10" away.

Your lighting is crucial...You would need a 5.0 UVB bulb, Maybe even a 10.0 UVB since you're putting your little guy in that big boy cage. If the bulb produces heat, I'm not sure what type of have. It's very important to not use compact fluorescent coil shape bulbs (they cause blindness and sometimes death to chameleons).

You always want the bottom half of the cage to be allot cooler. If your cham gets to hot, he'll wonder around and cool off, then go back up to bask. Also be sure to cover the soil of your ficus with large river rocks. You don't want your little guy eating anything that could harm him.

Also you need to make sure your cage is completely dried out before another good misting. Having too much dampness can cause your cham to get a respiratory infection. You def don't want that...My humidity is usually around 50-85%. 50 when it's pretty much dried out, and 85 after a good misting.

Your supplements is off. You would need to be dusting your feeders every feeding w/ Calcium with NO D3. Calcium W/D3 & Herptivite multivitamin 2 times a month. A good schedule is Calcium w/NO D3 everyday til Sunday, Then sunday use Multivitamins. Next week use Calcium WITH D3 on Sunday, Then repeat.

You need to research gutloading aswell...Gutloading is crucial. A member will hopefully give you a few links on how to gutload properly.

I'm on my phone so i'm all over the place. I'm sure other members will chime in and help you out. Hopefully i covered a few things to give you an overall feel of caring for a panther chameleon. Can't wait to see pics!

looks like i have a pet store trip to do tomarrow :)
would i need a separate lite for basking and one for uvb? I ordered him on chameleonsonly.com.

NICE! He's going to look amazing...

But yes. I'd highly recommend you getting a 24" 5.0 or 10.0 UVB bulb. I'd go with the 10.0 since he's in a large cage. Use the reptisun bulb w/ zoomed 30" hood (holds 24" bulbs).

Also for a basking bulb just use a regular 60 watt household bulb. Hook it up with a 8" clamp lamp and you should be fine.

Theres a few good lighting set ups you could go with. Just depends on your budget.

Your cage is the same size as mine, and I personally use a 5.0 Reptisun. Generally, 5.0 is plenty with the additional proper supplementation. I don't know how true it is, but I've heard some things about the 10.0 having a negative effect on a cham's eyes. Some may suggest to you to use higher to make sure it reaches your baby, which of course is something to consider with the amount of foliage your enclosure has, but UVB is also only one factor in the whole equation of ways to provide all of your chams supplemental needs.

It seems like most people use 5.0 and i wouldn't want to have a negative effect i know what dealing with a blind chameleon is like and its not fun. :( So I think im going to do the 5.0. Good decision?

I honestly think you'd be okay with 5.0, assuming your baby will hang out at the top most of the time like they usually do. :)

I've had a few problems using a 10uvb bulb, my Cham wa about 5 months old when ingot it and the per shop have me a 10 UVB bulb and I noticed him closing his eyes a lot ! I had a post on this forum about it. I ordered an Arcadia 6% UVB (very good light) and I soon noticed the difference in my chameleons attitude.
The lighting also depends how it's set up, for example if u have the UVB inside of the viv ( I would recommend the Arcadia 6% bulb) or if u have the UVB on the other side of a mesh viv I would consider using a 10 UVB bulb as the mesh will block out some of the rays! I hope this helps :)
