If he knows there is food in the cage, will he hunt for the rest, or should I still downsize his cage?

haha! nice! sorry to be repeating myself but ya man, id really do that. have you tried the separate feeding tub? itd be nice if it worked since ur guy is settled in. if you have a branch or something you could remove easily enough & put back in, it may help him feel at ease enough to eat having some sort of familliar turf.

If you are gonna keep him in a large enclosure then you really should get him to cup feed as this is the easiest way to tell that he is actually eating..
plus trying to gather all the insects out at night would be effort.

If you would rather free roam then getting a smaller enclosure is the better option.

I don't know if you have the cage they are saying is too big or your deciding to get it that big. Well if you can try to get the cham to cup feed so you can keep him in the big cage...that way you wont waste money on a smaller cage.
