Ghost mantids!

Local show was a dud aside from a few ambis and j. xanths, but I picked up a bunch of these guys! The guy had some stick bugs too but @ $20 a piece.. no way! But these guys are the whip!

Anyone know how to sex these? I know they are or can be communal but theyre separate for now..

those are sooo awesome!! i cant find anymore exotic mantids here in california (they have always been illegal to keep, but only recently, within the last few years, been enforcing it.) my last mantids were an violin mantid, and some diabolica (devils flower mantids).

Thats a bummer man.. You could probably get away with ordering them over the internet? I know of a few people in cali who keep some so there would have to be a way... Those two are some bad ass mantids!

You can sex them easily by their crown. Males have thinner and more jagged, whereas the females are thicker with less jaggedness and usually only one "kink". Congrats on the ghosts. I'm in SoCal and get all my mantids off the mantid forum. I am a mantid addict.

Well these guys have been bumped from feeder status to pet status, they are just too cool to feed off! For now at least

So I have set a trio up in a 12x12x18 exo with a few scrap plants and twigs...

Yes! I am a fan on facebook, I love that pic.. Males kinda have more of a zig zag going and the females typically shorter and squared off correct?

Id like to get some orchids soon too, those are some beautiful mantid!

Those are pretty cool, so people use them for feeders? or as pets? or both.. I always thought they were cool to watch.. I have tarantulas and their fun and easy to keep.
