I prefer Nitens. I really need to beef up the Nitens enclosure. They need more heat. That’s why I stayed away from Lineata

Did u reach out to SauceGandhi? He might be willing to grow some Nitens to adults. It's almost hopper time near me. I'll hunt Melanoplus Differentialis. If you still want Differentialis, message me.I wanted Nitens but I couldn’t get ahold of them
You are joking, right? It takes 6 whole months for Lineata eggs to hatch?Line
Lineata ~ 6 months
Nitens ~ about 4 weeks if they ever lay eggs.
Yup!You are joking, right? It takes 6 whole months for Lineata eggs to hatch?
What are you using for a incubator? It’s taken me 2 months to grow the tiny nymphs Dean sent me into mature adults. Then they take another month to sexually mature and start mating. When they do lay eggs it takes 6 months to hatch. So if you get nymphs you’re invested for damn near a year.
But I don’t care, spotted birds are fun to watch and they eat a lot so I know they’re packed with nutrients. I feed off any that don’t seem strong, or who have lost legs. And when those eggs finally do start hatching I’m gold because my incubators will be full of lay bins hatching monthly.
I don’t have eggs yet but probably will within the month. I plan on using a styrofoam cooler. Nothing crazyWhat are you using for an incubator?

Have you had any luck with the Nitens? It’s taken me 2 months to grow the tiny nymphs Dean sent me into mature adults. Then they take another month to sexually mature and start mating. When they do lay eggs it takes 6 months to hatch. So if you get nymphs you’re invested for damn near a year.

What substrate do you use?@Motherlode Chameleon, My Nitens and Lineata laid eggs outside of the lay bin. Any suggestions?
None. Lay bins are 50% plays and/50% cocofiberWhat substrate do you use?
I would put the eggs in a slightly moist medium and incubate them. Maybe put them in a deli cup with incubation medium.@Motherlode Chameleon, My Nitens and Lineata laid eggs outside of the lay bin. Any suggestions?
