Greatest Plant Tip Ever!!!

Okay... Well I am sure a lot of people are already aware of this... But this is for anyone like me who had no idea...

This weekend I found out that Lowes, and Home Depot I think... Both gurantee their plants up to a year...:eek:I killed like 4 hibiscus in the last 2 months! Save your receipt, and whether your Ficus, Hibiscus, Pothos, or whatever dies, Take it back with your reciept, and they will give you a new one!!! Bad at saving reciepts??? Give Lowes your Phone# at the time of purchase and they will keep that in a database for 6 months and you can return it just by giving your Phone#.

Stop putting your dead plants outside to try to bring them back, Just return them and get a nice new healthy one to re pot for your Cham.

I do it! It works! Now they look at me and laugh...I don't tell them what the plants are for... So they tell me... "Maybe you should just give up on gardening..." I Said "Why would I do that if you will give me a new one of anything I kill?". They have nothing to say at that point, becasue they can't change their policy for one person just because I really suck at keeping plants alive. :D

Don't forget to Rinse and Repot with the organic stuff.

lol... i always kid my gf about this too.
She killed cactuses under her care :D
i was bursting out laughing when she said her cactuses died.. (i pay the price though. i learn my lesson)..

Anyway, YES! 1 year warranty, people. no Q asked.
That's why i shopped at lowes (idk, if home depot and wal mart have this policy).

PS: I have no affiliation with Lowes in case you guys are wondering. they don't pay me to advertise here :D

Wish I kept my receipts, got about 4 dead a tthe moment. Im switching to mostly fake plants anyway. They dont die as fast....

I have great success with schefflera arboricola. One plant I keep in a panther cage has not been outdoors for almost two years and is still growing well (pruning required). I previously did not have much success with cage plants. One thing I believe that helped was that I stopped using the plant to collect water from a dripper; doing so can eventually hurt the roots. Another change was that I started using much larger planting pots which of course allows for more root growth.

Good tip about returning plants to lowes. I'll have to remember that one!

Lowes also has a hell of a selection too. At leaste the ones around here do. I used to go there before i heard about the 1yr guarantee, now I'm totally sold!

Thanks for the fyi on that one :)

Joe, that is awesome. I had no idea. I was purchasing plants from an expensive nursery around here, because they have a HUGE selection, but they do NOT replace your dead ones! I'm checking this out.

Heck Yeah they Do! I have found the people there are very helpful as well.

I went to Home Depot and asked where they keep their Ficus, and I had 2 employees wandering around the garden section scratching their heads...Lowes had 2wice the selection, and were a great help. Haha.. I swear I'm not getting paid for this.

Also I found at lowes... An AWESOME digital Thermometer/Hyrgrometer with a 1 meter probe in the indoor garden section for $13!!!! Can't remember the maker but I will post about it later tonight.

Please do! I just looked at them at PetSmart on Saturday, and they wanted $30! Glad I did not buy one if I can get the same thing at Lowe's for $13!!

Great to know about Lowe's plant guarantee, I have one less than a mile from my house, and I want to add a pothos to Joyce's cage along with the schleffera tree (I agree Brad, the schefflera a. is really easy to keep, and I don't seem to kill it like I do those %$^*@ ficus b. trees that I can never keep alive!).

Lowes does do that, as well as Home Depot. We live in the desert and nothing lives very long, so we take advantage. The one thing Lowes is lacking is, Home Depot offers a Military discount....

Yes we have been using that with Lowes for about a year now. The best was when we bought 2 ficus and they were dead in a week. I kid you not....not a single leaf left on them. Anyway we went to return those and they also gave us our money back for the organic soil we used and the pots we bought to put them in!!!! Hell of a deal if you ask me.

Oh yeah, I agree Home Depots selection sucks and their employees (at least around here) are blubbering fools. Lowe's is WAY better.

Yep that where and why I got mine at Lowe's

I havent actully had one die ...YET but im betting my veiled's is going to die first he keeps eating the leaves. I wonder if thats covered?

BTW good to know im not hte only one cashing in on this =p
