gut loading superworms?

I just finished the first link. I see now. Hmm, I wonder if people should be recommending bug burger now?

Interesting isn't it? I like Repashy products and I have always liked Bug Burger too. I started questioning carrageenan recently, when the state denied a reptile food because of carrageenan.

Thanks for posting the link to the sandrachameleons blog Clarkrw3! I always gutloaded by alternating fruits/veggies..., but I honestly had no idea about using nuts and grinding ingredients to make the substrate for the superworms. I have just used oatmeal! I feel like a bad mommy. Despite efforts made to do things right, I am always learning new things and ways to improve the care of my reptiles. This forum is great, thanks to all who try to help less experienced chameleon owners as best they can! Cheers!! now I am off to bulk barn to pick up some ingredients!

That is great, you found some very useful information. Nuts and seeds are an excellent choice and are packed with valuable nutrients. Try hemp seeds, flax seeds, and sesame seeds too. Grind the nuts and seeds together and put them on a rich, green, organic, veggie, like Kale.

Description :

CRICKET TOTAL BITES is THE complete gut load, nutritious food, and water in a soft gel cube.
Easily assimilated ingredients by all herps. More than just calcium, CRICKET TOTAL BITES is the TOTAL solution to cricket gut loading and care.

Its GREEN because its loaded with Spirulina and other nutriceuticals! CRICKET TOTAL BITES provides TOTAL nutrition.

CRICKET TOTAL BITES offers more than 50 essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other micro-nutrients.

I didnt ask for the marketing description bs, I was asking what specifically is in it. If they dont tell you, clearly you shouldnt be using it.
If you list out the ingredients and the analysis, we can tell you if its worth using or tossing in the trash

Here's an alternative to the gut-load debate for what it's worth:
You can dip a superworm in Sweet Potato baby food and then send it in to get devoured. Depending upon which vitamins you are trying to provide, you can switch up the type of baby food involved...
I would still offer crickets and other feeders and I certainly wouldn't disagree with anything Sandra says, but baby food will provide nutrients for a chameleon the same as it will for a human...

I have a little bag of those green cubes. Are they bad for my chameleon? I don't want to give her anything that will hurt her or make her sick. I primarily use different other gut loads besides those. I also have the flukers high calcium cricket gut load and I occasionally use different veggies.

The Flukers cricket diet has a D3 suppliment in it. & a whole bunch of stuff I cant pronounce. I stopped useing it a long time ago but still had the jar tucked away

Here is the PROBLEM as I see it! And this goes for a LOT of people asking for help. You don't want help!! You want to be told you are doing things right. Your not looking for help your are looking for validation.

This is why MANY of the really experienced keepers just don't bother helping anymore.

YOU'RE being kind of rude...getting tired of some of the snobs on this forum...I asked if the superworms would eat the stuff...got my answer...I will eventually try Bug Burger so thanks...:)

I can live with that:rolleyes::D No, you asked how do you gutload superworms! If your real question was will they eat these green cubes that I have a gal of, you wouldn't need a thread at all because you have both put them together and see what happens;) Several of the senior members of this forum were trying to HELP you and steer you in the right direction and instead of being thankful and trying to learn you threw it right back in our face by saying
I have a whole gallon of the stuff, so I'm going to continue using it along with some lemons to cover the smell.
That's RUDE!! Where as you could have said thanks for all your help and those helpful links I will look into those options for the future. And then used up whatever you had if that's what you were set to do. Funny thing is you reap what you sow or to put in simpler if YOU act RUDE to the people that are taking there time to help and educate you....you will get RUDE back!!

I do appreciate THEIR time and thanked in my last post, you can kick rocks...stop arguing/placing blame and work on your spelling/grammar skills.

I thought you were rude too, which is why I didn't offer any advice. Not necessarily with how you said it, but total disregard of what was offered is rude. You scare off a lot of helpful people who just don't have any interest in dealing with 'know it all 6 month experts' when you respond the way you did. It's a waste of our time if you're obviously not going to listen to anyone when you asked the question (so why ask it?). Food for thought.

It's the net. Things get tossed around meaning to sound one way, but then others read it a while different way.

I'm not sure it was total disregard, so much as just a short, simple answer. Most people don't think about if the answer was enough for everyone to be satisfied and just write something quickly, keeping it short and to the point. Yes, it could have been answered better for you all, but I don't think it's something to get that worked up about. I'm sure the worked up response will keep him from answering like that anymore.

Edit: he's been here long enough to know how it all works.

No. You asked if you could gutload them. You didn't ask if thy would eat the green cubes. We told you what to use to gutload them. So yes they can be gutloaded, but they are not properly gutloaded if you use the green cubes.

if they are the Nature Zone Cricket bites..this is what's in 'em.

Carrageenan, whey protein, soy protein, maltodextrin, fructose, lecithin, locust bean gum, calcium lactate, spirulina, potassium sorbate, citric acid, ascorbic acid, methylparaben, FD&C Yellow 5, FD&C Blue 1.

i wouldn't use them..

Carrageenan isn't the best for your chameleon. I wouldn't recommend anything with carrageenan to anyone!
