Not that great of a shot, but today was the first time I had tried a tongue shot outside. I hadn't planned on this, but the mantis kept running off his perch. Still had to shoot in the shade and use a flash to freeze the shot. At least I thought so at first....his tongue stuck to my thumb for probably a full second. I probably could have taken two pictures with his tongue smashed against my thumb. I also would have backed up a little if I knew I was so close. Standing in front of him, I thought it would be a longer tongue shot and I didn't want to go back too far and be out of the frame. I still have never tried a tongue shot with a lot of light and just shoot on burst at 8fps instead of a one off with a flash.

Thanks. Here's a pic I took just a few minutes earlier of him eating a Creobroter mantis. I missed the tongue shot and zoomed in on him eating. He looks so excited.:)
