hanging fake vines

Thank you, I was think I'm gonna see if she likes the enclosure tomorrow bit put her back in her current habitat to sleep because I wanna test the sturdiness of what I already have up. Do you think I should try anything else before I completely move her in?

Mostly you want to just make sure she'll be safe so testing the sturdiness and security of everything is definitely good. I would also test the temps of her new basking areas. Make sure she has comfy spots to pick to sleep on and different levels to bask at. Also make sure the humidity in the new cage is right. I think you've got it down pretty well. This isn't your first cage so you know what all she needs so just make sure she's getting everything she needs in the new cage just like in her current cage. Then I would give her a little while to settle in after you put her in her new home to give her time to adjust.

So far even without misting anything the humidity is 55% so Im guessing with misting it'll be prefect, temps without lights is 69 at night and 72 or 73 at the bottom, about 75 in the middle and 80-85 under the heat lamp but I'll make that warmer when she gets older. The only issue I'm having is that it looks so empty but I can fix that and hopefully have enough stuff within the next few weeks before she reaches that gravid age which still makes me a nervous mommy.

Sounds like you're on the right track. Can you post a pic of the enclosure as you have it so far? I'd love to see how it's coming

Hmm, ur right, it is still pretty bare. I think that getting one of the large thick brown jungle vines and then getting an ivy vines to wrap around it would really help out a lot. You could intertwine that with what you already have and it would give her lots of space to walk around on. Then get a few of those long dowel rods that you can cut to size and place a few of those in with the thumb tacks. I think they were only maybe $.25 each so they're pretty cheap.

I also have a thicker branch and a thick vine but nothing to hang them with yet, I'm hoping that repotting the plants will make the cage look less bare as well, I have 8 32" dowel type branches coming, 2 more vines that will wrap around the cage coming, and one fake plant thing plus the stuff in her old cage I think will make a big difference but I still want to get a few more branches or dowels just to be safe.

If you have all that stuff on the way then I think you should be good. Along with my big pothos I also have a small one that I tied to the upper right wall with some of the wires. It doesn't weigh very much since it's so small but it's already started having vines hanging out and over so you might consider putting a plant up higher if it's a draping/hanging plant. And remember it will fill in over time.

I can't remember which one of my plants is the pothos but I was thinking of hanging it up on top and I also think that the 5 gallon bucket will make it seem a lot less empty.

That lay bin will definitely make it look a lot less empty. Then you'll just have to fill the top half in. If you go back and look at the pic I posted of my enclosure the pothos is the bright green plant on the bottom half of the cage. I do know there are many different types though so yours may look a little different. I have another one that looks similar but is darker green and not as dense.

Based on the picture I think mine is the smaller of my plants with the green and yellow leaves. The hibiscus I believe is the taller one the leaves are slightly different on the two plants. I like your enclosure, do you use a Tupperware for feeding cup? I was wondering of it would be necessary to have one for her

Thank you. I do use small Tupperware bowls. They're easy to take in and out and I mostly use them for superworms. I let the hornworms free range usually on the fern in there and usually I'll dump the crickets in the bowl but most of them jump out which I'm totally fine with. Make sure and take it out if ur doing a super spray down of the cage though cuz the feeders will drown. I don't have my mistking set up until I get my big cage so I just hand mist right now.

I also didn't mean to barge in on your discussion. You two seem to have everything under control here. (y)

Hi Gwen,

I would highly recommend one of these bird ladders from Amazon. You can put it horizontally across the cage and use it as a base to hang your vines and fake plants. It has worked wonders for me. I have two 24 inch and one 36 inch in the cage. They are fairly expensive, but all you really need is one.

I was actually looking at ladders today but o couldn't any that I thought would be big enough for her enclosure. I'll look into getting one the Monday after this one. Getting as many opinions as possible is great so no need to feel like you're intruding

Lol, please, barge away. I've thought about getting one of those ladders before but couldn't find the one I wanted. Thank you for the suggestion!

I put her in there to test the sturdiness and she seemed to like all the extra space, she tested everything and was able to get around no problem. I was scared that the enclosure was going to be too big but she seems to have no issues getting around, I'm just worried that she won't use a feeder cup if I put one in there.

Yay, I'm glad she's liking her new home. The cool thing about the feeder cup is you can monitor exactly how much she's eating. If it's not something she likes, then go back to doing what you had been doing.

I'm just worried that she won't be able to find her food if I let it free like I do now. I'll try the cup because I know how much she will eat.
