I purchaced a jacksons chameleon from a breeder about 2 weeks ago and when I came home today he was on the bottom of his cage, at first I was confused because I thought they like branches but I realised that he wasn't moving and he was stiff, do you have any idea of how he could have died

I don’t know Jackson’s care, but in order for someone to help you to figure out possible causes, you’ll need to provide full info of what you were doing. Here’s the help form to fill out.

Chameleon Info:

• Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
• Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
• Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
• Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
• Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
• Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
• History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:

• Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
• Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
• Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?

I’m so sorry for your loss
maybe your set up and stuff may not have been what it should’ve been or maybe the breeder just didn’t breed a healthy chameleon. If you plan on getting another one make sure you do all the research you can, are 100% ready, and purchase your chameleon from a good breeder too

O, I'm sorry. Only two weeks. Mmm chams that small are difficult. You have to be on your toes... He cannot become too hot.. He needs water constantly. They have very small amounts of blood, tissue and organs. He could have gotten too close to his basking light, dehydrated and had no knowledge of self preservation. We need more info but 5 hours is actually a very long time for something that tiny and new to life.
