He is doing really bad really bad part 2

Well he is doing pretty bad now I thought he was getting better but I was wrong. His eyes are sucked in really bad and his eyes can barley stay open and he is drooling mucus. When I hand feed him the food does not digest and when he poops its a brownish liquid color. He wont stay under his basking light all he does now is lay on the branch with his mouth open. The popping has stopped and his noises as well. He was getting better and now it just took a big turn around. He is on Baytril and Calcionate syrup. I know something other than what the vet said is causing this problem. What could it be? I really cant afford a $500 xray and blood sample. What would that show? The vet told me that would only give her a better idea on whats wrong with him and might not help figure it out. The pics are of today he looks so terrible

Wow, it doesnt look like he's digesting anything. He's pooping so you can take impaction out of the scenario. My guess would be a parasite. I could totally be wrong though. Is he drinking?

Are you still giving your chameleon the recommended medication? Are you keeping the chameleon hydrated? Proper hydration is very important, especially while on medication. Is your chameleon receiving enough heat to properly digest its food?

When giving antibiotics you must insure that the chameleon is drinking even if it means force feeding. The water is more important then food at this point.

He has been drinking but stopped yesterday. I force feed him water today and he threw it up within 2 min. He head also started to turn powder white. I dont know what to do at this point. I dont think he will make it much longer

Did you shower him as well? If not try and shower him for at least 15-20 min.

Yeah...try that today (but make shure he dries ofter the shower maybe make the lights go off a little later). Tomorrow try and give him 2-3 showers. Hope he pulls through.

He died and Im am so upset. I never thought a animal would make a impact on me like this. I tried everything I could and nothing worked. He was my pal I used to sit on my bed after a long day and just chill and look at him and it would make my day easy. I loved this guy and now im wishing he was still with me. Thanks for all your help you guys are the best...

I am so sorry he passed. I know how attached we can be to our chams especially since we try everything we can when they're sick & we try our best to take care of them.

I'm also have a cham right now who has URI & the vet also prescribed Baytril but I haven't given it to him yet. I've just heard horror stories about it on other threads so I'm afraid to dose him and gotta call his vet again before I give it to him.

I can see you've tried everything you could. I hope things get better for you.

I hated to read the part where he passed on. I'm so sorry for your loss. I have 2 with URI right now.1 is really bad so i know exactly what you are going through. Does anyone have any ideas as to the turnaround? Did something else go wrong? Or do you think it was the URI that finally caught up with him? I'll say a prayer for him.

I think the meds the vet gave me worked to a point with the URI. The first three days his popping stopped but his body started looking bad and his movement got really slow. I thought it was a side affect from the meds.I did some research and came to find out these meds are really strong for a cham and some do not take well. I read the turn around time is from 2 weeks to 3 months depends on each case. I would say mine died from dehydration and URI. I say dehydration because he stopped drinking and when I would force drink him he would spit it up and did not have water for 4 days. I know a lot more about URI if anyone wants more info PM me and I will try to help you the best I can. I still have my Nosy Mitsio so I have good company.
