Healthy or unhealthy cham, you decide!

Ladies and gents,
As an educational exercise, attached is a photo of a Jackson's chameleon. I am not going to say just yet where the photo comes from (if you know, please don't ruin the surprise!) I will post this later.

Here is the question healthy, or unhealthy-why?

I would say a bit dehydrated...not only the eyes but the skin, maybe a tad underfed based on the casque but otherwise, there are no symptoms of problems I see in the picture.

He definitely looks dehydrated, and possibly lacking a bit of nourishment. But a dripper and some nice long mistings should fix him right up and he'll be looking great :)

I don't have much experience but they all look dehydrated to me because of the sunken eyes and dry skin. Do the horns look a bit off on the Jackson too? What would cause that? Mdb?

Possibly, but some Jacksons have horns that do a little bit of a curl at the end. Some have stubbier/funnier looking horns than others. At least from what I understand.

Ok, sounds like people are calling dehydrated. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Agree with others? Disagree?

I will reveal the source shortly after I get home and get it.

Some of you may find the irony humorous.... I sure did!

OK, without further ado, I give you the source of the images. Before I do though, I want to make a point completely clear. I did not choose to post these because of the specific company involved. I posted these because I though it illustrates an interesting and powerful point that it makes about chameleon car and the perception of it.

Thoughts? I do not mean to encourage a flame war here. All viewpoints welcome and respected please.

i bought a jackson from petsmart and it was in worse condition than that! NEVER again will I buy a reptile from a petstore, im happy with my veiled I bought from a breeder online, healthy as can be :)

we don't have petsmart here, we have pet land they house their chameleons in small maybe 1ftx1ft cages and there are usually 10+ babies in it, no heat lamp, no drip system just a water dish. I have asked about the temp in the cage before and they say they don't know there is no thermometer in the cage. last time i was there they had a panther with a crusted up eye, i asked what they were doing for him, they said nothing he will get better on his own. I swear they hire based on how hot the girl is.

What I find particularly interesting, besides the images they chose as representing what they consider to be a healthy member of the species, is the fact that they state that this document is approved by their vets.

5 to 7 years huh? Doesnt surprise me. I was gonna say petsmart
They think the chameleons grow to be huge... Not to mention that they put 2 totally different species in the same brochure thing -.-
By the way, how can the color of their emotions make them blend in the environment?! Have they not seen panthers? They don't blend in at all...
Who even knows if there really are veterinarians at petsmart? No one can really prove this. I think a veterinarian would be more educated about the animals... That's why they studied for years... Besides, real veterinarians would not join anything with petsmart, I believe, seeing the condition of the animals.

they may have regular vets, when i took my course you don't learn about exotics unless you do extra years to become an exotic vet

that made me laugh out loud. i was going to say dehydrated like everyone else but in addition to that a life time a malnourishment considering how the horns developed.

is that a recent photo?

and i cant say im surprised.
