Heat Lamp Help

Hello =)

My idea may seem silly, however it would be a no cost, temporary solution. In your first post you said you were looking for just an inch or two of lift.

Have any spare forks?

Shae that is ingenious lol i am impressed.

I was going to say if you had the 8.5 work lamps like you get a lowes/walmart you could take and cut 3 tabs out of the reflector and bend them down like legs perhaps also.

You may think that's silly, but it's freaking genious! That's exactly what I've been trying to find! Just something simple, temporary, safe, and effective. I'm going to try that out as soon as I get home! :)

Im pretty sure it doesn't work with mercury vapour bulbs, But regular light bulbs it works with just fine. And as for actual fixtures I haven't found one it doesn't work with.

Thank you. I'm going to see if I can hunt down a dimmer ASAP. I've been wanting one for a while. Do you use a specific brand? Sorry for the 100 questions. Lol.

Well if you are not focusing the light into one corner you will need to put plants, etc. around it so it does not overheat the rest of the cage. Holes are fixable in the walls and ceilings with plaster and paint ;)

Loki's lamp centers the light right below it. His heat lamp is in the far back of his cage. Which leaves, the front, bottom, and corners almost room temp (varying degrees of course). The lamp itself is a small size so the heat doesn't spread very far.

When I say the light only lights up a corner, I mean it's barely in his cage. The entire cage is almost entirely dark, with the heat bulb lighting up the tip-top left.. and that's it. A very small area. He can bask there, but his cage wasn't designed for that to work properly.

It's difficult to explain. But I know exactly what you're saying.

One more thing that would work and is cheep . aluminum foil, crumbeled up and made whatever size you need ,

No, just any dimmer you can find that has a plug will do. You can play with the adjustments when you get it all set up for find the right heat, and can readjust whenever needed.
