I have my veiled in my reef/fish room with high humidity and temp. mid eighties during day and mid seventies at night. with these temps should i still offer a basking area?
it drops that at night. i have large lights over my aquarium that heat the room up during day then drops down 10 degrees at night. its mid eighties now and i was hoping by placeing light at top it would be a few warmer there. i will check different levels and see exactly were it is. i think ambient is about right at 70-75 at night and 80-85 during day. i'll try to maintain those temps and have basking spot even if i have to add another bulb at 85-90. does that sound good?
Sorry if my post sounded like babies needed cooler temps at night, all ages of veiled chameleons need those temps. 75 F day ambient temp, 85-90 degree basking temp, and 55-65 temp at night. You may want to consider just putting him in a different room if you can't get the temps to drop.
He will also need to have a barrier of some sort put up so he can't see the fish/water at all.
he cant see fish. what temp is ur cage at night? i know it gets cold at night in yemen but most people maintain them at house hold temps with basking areas for daytime. this room gets to 70 at night like rest of house. 80-85 during day. i have themometer in ther now. ill post readings of basking area lower area and night time temps once i have them. so far im just estimating but i know im close.
