Hello Everyone

I'm obviously new on here.
I will be getting my first veiled chameleon next month.
I have been looking at getting a reptibreeze and fixing flexi glass on three sides or using plastic materials to keep the moisture in.

What are people's opinions on these.

Also any tips about keeping a veiled?

Looking forward to hearing from you all

Nicole :D

I've done this a lot. It's convenient because you can adjust the panels/sheeting as needed by season once you know how your cage humidity level fluctuates.

There is all sorts of basic husbandry info on veileds at the top of these forums. You'll find out pretty much everything you need to know. Scroll around and read and come back with specific questions if something isn't clear. Welcome!

Thank you everyone!! Didn't even realise that were were replies.
My bad!! I've bought the vivarium today. It is huge barely fits in my car haha but I'm super excited.

And tips or hints. I've done plenty of research about owning one but obviously it's always great to have some from people who actually own them:)

Supplementing is way more vital then I Italy realized. I'm a fairly new veiled owner so I don't have a ton of experience :). But that's one thing that I found. You'll need calcium (with AND without d3) as well as a multi vitamin. The more things for them to climb the better, and if your veild starts chopping on your plant, a sprig of kale will give th something better to chew on. My ate half of the small pothos i had in there in less then 2 days hasnt touched sinces i added better greens. Gonna try some collard greens next. I've also recently learned the importance of a varied deit (for both your Cham AND your feeders) good luck, send pics when you bring your Cham home!!!

Thank you! At the moment I've been looking at shower curtains... Sounds tacky but they look great and don't act too much like having glass. Lol but I am planning on having a look once I've actually got him.

Welcome to the forms!! Can't wait to see pictures of your chameleon when you get it!!

Thank you!! I have a photo of him. Decided to name him Yoshi.
It's my friends boyfriend who bred his. So their keeping him till he's 2 months to make sure he's in good health then gonna get him 1st of feb :D

I had a large reptibreeze and just ziptied shower curtain cut to size around the back and sides :) it worked fine!!
now my Cham has his own room so no cage involved anymore lol

hi everyone,
i was also worried about humidity levels, as i live in phoenix,
whet i have done is use a cotton fabric on 2 sides, similar to flannel
on my veiled cage. that has seemed to work out.

and i have a new jackson coming that i am actually going to use
double sided tape to attach a couple bath towels (so slightly heavier)
to two sides.
the towels are almost perfect size and i feel like some of the overspray
may be held in the towels helping keep the humidity up. as long as the
towels dry in between i am thinking it should work?

any thoughts on the theory?

Surely if the towels are getting wet then drying and without changing the towels often then they will start to produce bacteria ??

He is so cute! And love the name!

Welcome to the world of chameleons!! I agree shower curtains are tacky!! Of course I have used them for years and I only use the expensive ones from the dollar store. They are also easy to change, I tape them around the cage, and cut off about 3" from the bottom to tuck under the cage so the water stays in the drain tray and goes into the drain bucket.:D I am the queen of using what ever works for me. Believe it or not I have never had a cham complain yet. Some of the people on here may think I am nuts but they never have the guts to say so. I will protect you from all of them.:)
