HELP- Drunk chameleon Not using his back legs PLEASE HELP

That chameleons is quite dehydrated too. See how sunken the eyes are? While I feel you should definitely get rid of the bark chips, I think this animal is in need of major rehydration before organ failure occurs. Dont rely on the fogger for water intake. Step up the misting a lot. More often and more water.

How long have you had the Senegal?

Although sunken eyes can indicate dehydration it can also be because he's sick. Be careful you don't get water into his lungs when you are watering him.


Is the mouth opening and closing due to your presence or he's just doing it even when you aren't there and with his nose up?

Everything is going great now with my veiled. I set up his lighting and heating lamp in awkward positions in conjunction with way too much vitamin dust. so he wasn't processing all the vitamins with his uvb bulb because of the positioning. I had to buy a combo set with the heating and uvb under one dome. (the vet was a huge waste of time. he told me like 50 different things it could be and wanted to do every test possible which I think 48 of them were totally un necessary and he had a problem doing only a few specific tests..... said he did not feel "comfortable" only doing a few..... so I just left). so now his food is gut loaded with calcium, kale, carrots, apples and other fruits i randomly buy. he does not close his eyes at all now. they are not sunken in anymore, he is using both his back legs and does not grab onto himself at all. he is much more fearful of me, which seems like a great sign. (He wasn't reacting to me at all when he was sick). I know im not out of the woods yet but i really think all the changes i made to his lighting/heating/substrate/diet have made a huge difference.
He still is opening his mouth a bit but only when im around and close to his cage. this could be a few things i know now, but i believe its because hes scared.(not trying to cool off or dehydrated anymore) he will follow me with his open mouth he is not pointing his nose at anything other than me.

and i have had my Senegal 'Clyde Frog chameleon' for 4 or 5 months.(its a south park reference.. he is not a frog..) i have never had a problem with him and he has always been healthy. hes growing like a champ (needed to change his substrate as well). in the beginning i had different cage set ups for Clyde and my veiled because of price, so i broke down and upgraded my veiled cage as i somewhat explained up top. (thought babies didn't need as much and i would upgrade as i went which turned out to be a terrible idea).
