Help eggs hatching?

Well they may have survived the GA trip. One of the eggs is cracked open this AM!!! Not the first one with water drop but the 2nd one. Question do you ever help them out of egg? How long does it take for them to come out of the egg after crack? Do you ever crack one, like the one that had water on it now for almost a week? When do I move them to seperate tank? Sorry just a newbee want to do best for them.

Fowlers is right. I would not cut them out. Someone said they could sweat for a week before they come out on your other thread. I have not seen this but then again I have only hatched out 6 clutches of panthers. Usually they start to sweat and will for a day or two then crack the egg and sit in there. I have had them sit in there for 2 to 3 days before emerging. They will come out so dont get worried I remember calling Chuck G (heroicchameleons) asking him WTF? Hahahaha.

Honestly the egg that had already started sweating is probably gone. I would cut it open and see what is inside and any others that sweats for more than 3 or 4 days. You may see a week neonate or just a mushy substance. However, if the cham can not make it out of the egg it is just too weak and more than likely wont make it or be a runty one.

And also. I usually by fruit flies before they start hatching and pins after they start to hatch. It may take 2 or 3 days before they start eating and my panthers never ate FFs. But it is good to be prepared though

I also wouldnt supplement for a couple weeks. The main thing is keeping them well hydrated and letting them grow a bit before starting to supplement. At least that is how I do it. Others have different methods also. I just followed what Chuck G suggested to me. Not a bad source to be listening to when it comes to all types of chameleons

Babies can take more than 24 hours to come out of the egg after slitting. It can take up to 2-3 days sometimes. In some cases, it might even take a day or two longer than that. It's very exciting to have your first egg hatch, just leave it alone and you should have that baby out in no time. I have had eggs in the sweat stage for 5-6 days before they slit. I would wait seven or more days after the sweat before cutting anything open.

thanks for all the info I got fruit fly on the way home cant get crickets now until monday with the holiday. the one that slit is getting bigger hole it appears and thanks I will wait. What is the best temp for neatoes?

80 degrees on one side and room temp. low 70's on another for babies.

I always have a light bulb shining into the baby bin, especially in the morning when it is a little chilly. I monitor the temps constantly and don't let the temps get above 85, but like to keep it about 80. I use a 25W bulb which just takes the chill off. My babies all do well with this system.

Neoate? is that the correct spelling? Egg update, more cracks on the egg and somthing pushing thru but cant tell what still. Boy is this slow, I hope he is just not that weak they will die. Ok now need to know more about care of the neoate. Should I use bleach solution on the tank I am going to put them in? I will make sure I have a 25 watt bulb and need another UVB as well. What was the best kind you all recommended? What else am I missing? I have ff and will get pin head crickets sent monday, hatching silk worms eggs to try again. No luck with them so far.

It can take awhile, so be patient. There still is a chance the babies are weak and won't make it. Panther clutches can be tricky sometimes. I keep mine in plastic bins. Way easier to clean and lighter to carry. If you use bleach on anything use a 1 bleach to 10 parts water and then rinse, rinse, rinse until you can no longer smell bleach. You will need a UVB tube-do not use a compact coil on babies-no way. I line the bottom of the bin with 3 layers of papertowel and a fake plastic plant. I take babies out as soon as they are hatched all of the way and moving about in the egg bin. Moisten the papertowel to help with humidity. I mist babies, plants, and all with a very fine mist several times daily. If you have babies dragging yolk sacs put them in a bin with no plants and moist papertowel-this is so they don't drag a sac, break it, and bleed out. I will attach a picture here as soon as I find one.

Load photos to Photobucket and attach the IMG tag line.

Plastic totes are so easy-once you haul a heavy glass aqaurium to the tub 3 times or more a week for cleaning you will never use glass again!

thanks again for all your help. Sorry I am so bad with the computer. I guess you found the photos in my profile album. Still do not know where the Photo bucket is but as long as you found them. I hate to say I did open the other egg that sweated first and then never split. The baby was there but was not alive. I fear the eggs may be rubbery, and read this can cause them to not be able to hatch. The one that is cracking I will not touch or any others, unless you feel I need to.
