Help Feeding!!!

your welcome, took me a little bit to get it down as well. get your food soon and dont forget to keep the silkies room temp and remove any deflated or sick looking worms asap and remove the poop ever other day or so. also, ive gone almost 3 days without feeding my silkies and they survived; but i wouldnt recommend it. good luck and hopefully like me you will enjoy these little worms.

edit: keep the top of the container open, or get a container with flaps and keep the flaps closed, air can still get in. you just dont want dust or debris to get in with them, they have no immune system and can get sick very easy

also, wash wash and wash your hands before handling them, they will get sick very easy.

Okay I read that and now Im even MORE confused..about the canvas and toilet paper rolls and glue!? man, I just thought Id get them, she'd eat them, and all would be well!

Surely you're having flashbacks by now when you were trying to get your children to eat those nasty peas, carrots and chicken out of the gerber jars, right? Nothing's as easy as it seems :) I'm learning vicariously through your experiences; thanks for taking the plunge!

if you get the clear plastic containers with the blue flaps on top at walmart they cant climb the walls. well...they cant climb any smooth surface. and as far as feeding off, put a couple silkies on a vine or branch close to basking area, chams have very good eyesight and should notice the worms right away. once they get a taste of the silkies they will love em and u shouldnt have any problem feeding them off.

my silkies dont last 1min in the cage, my chams dash to eat em. like a 5 year old and a candybar.

Okay.. I put about 5 in and Ben ran away again..I see her eying them.. I put them in a Butter tub for right now..is that ok? I have this fear of my dogs knocking it over and silkies going everywhere and then being wrapped in a cocoon of silk while im sleeping!! Hope you all are enjoying this.:p

Or mail me your worms. LOL. Th PIG that is my cham ate 3 large hornworms and kept crawling towards the cup looking for more while his tongue was sticking out ready to shoot.

Sigh....he is what? 650 grams or so now.

WOW! My cham is scared of EVERYTHING...I guess living in a dark closet closed off fromt he world will do that to ya..:)

GIve him some time. He'll get used to them. Hermie was scared of the hornworms the first time he saw them as well. Now he comes running when I get in a shipment.

Which wont be happening any time soon with windchills at -20*c.
