help found a stowaway what is it ?

I am from Florida and when visiting the Keys earlier this year there were alot of what looked like that catching bugs near lights on buildings at night....I was told they were house gecko's.:)
 
If it's truly a house gecko, since they are pretty much everywhere in the eastern and southern states (though they also do well in western States when they escape I just don't know if we have large wild populations), you should hear it make barking sounds at night. However I am not sure whether he needs to be in a colony for that to come about or not.
 
Apparently you keep them similair to a crested gecko, he will get about 4-6 inches and live for possibly 5 years. He would do well in a planted terrarium. Substrate is recommended and a heat source. They are purely insect eaters from what I know, and they need a place to warm up and cool off. However he is considered arboreal so a taller terrarium would be better if you could do it. At the moment I think he'd do fine in a 10 gallon aquarium or possibly even a 5 gallon one, depending on how large he is. Misting and humidity is important however he doesn't need as much misting as a chameleon, more like once or twice a day.
 
Well need I find a better place to put my stowaway because he kept me up all night at first I thought it was a loose cricket but it's not he has the ability to sound like a male cricket to attract females for his dinner

That's a house gecko for you. If I remember correctly from the colony that used to be in the store where I worked (they were a colony that established after a few that were for sale escaped and got lost in the store) each gecko could make several different vocalizations. They had one tailored specifically for territory wars. It was one of the highlights of working there, every now and then you'd hear little barks or chirps and they would randomly show up where you least expected it. I especially loved seeing the little tiny babies.
 
I know that they bark like crazy when they get older, can't say I've heard one chirp but it's very possible. An infestation of these guys is a good thing if the noise doesn't bother you, I was actually thinking of ordering a few to manage the escaped crickets in my bug room!

They would do an amazing job no doubt. However they propagate rather... Well ...if you understand XD
