HELP ! LOST MY VEILED :(

My veileds tend to want to walk towards the brightest light in a dimmed room. I suppose trying to catch that last bit of light. May work.

Look behind the most ridiculous of appliances. They tend to fall into dark places and then just seemingly wait, either too cold to move out of the area, or it's too dark and they batten down for the night so to speak.

My door was closed though to my bedroom as I block off my cats in there so she can free range in peace...can they get under doors?? I really wouldn't think she would be able to fit...like at all..

Yes they can get under the doors. How big is the space between the bottom of the door and the floor? I have had my female veiled and my adult male veiled go under a door with an inch and a half gap. I'd be checking the the entire house.

We're talking quarter inch gap at best though :( but nevertheless I have checked my bedroom eeeeeeverywhere

I had an adult male veiled escape from free ranging once for a couple of hours (not my current boy) and had searched everywhere in the room. When we did find him he turned up under a grate involving the heating and cooling system on the floor. Too cold to move. Still have no idea how he managed to get in there but he did! So definitely check really unusual places such as if you have floor grates she could have snuck under.

I am sorry she is still missing though. It really is scary when they decide to go romping. Just take deep breaths and be patient. Just cus you looked in one place yesterday doesn't mean she wont be there today. Check all places everyday and do it slow so you don't miss spotting her or scare her. And definitely try all the ideas everyone came up with, you never know what may work.

Good luck and I hope you find her soon!

Mine escaped twice. found him on the top half of a fishing pole near his cage. then hanging out on a high spot near my couch. good luck finding your cham

On the bright side--at least you know she's inside. One time my female veiled escaped OUTSIDE when I put her on a plant to get some sun....I had to wait until nighttime to find her...she was all the way up in a bamboo tree in the backyard and I had to cut the branch down to get her back. My advice is to look in high places, they do not like being low by the ground. She could have also gone into your closet or in a house plant if you have any.

What kind of heating do you have?(sorry if this was mentioned, just a thought that came to mind) Any baseboard type heat where a hole is cut thru the floor for the pipe? sometimes those cover plates that cover the gap end up missing over the years.

Google Image for example...

i lost my panther and looked everywhere for him last year. he was clinging to a shirt in my closet between a bunch of others. it was literally the last place i looked. i was so annoyed after turning up everything in my place im like, well i doubt hes here but what the heck,so i rifled through every piece of clothing in the closet and there he was. crazy where theyll go.

Any luck? I hope she found food.

For everyone asking "any luck" and commenting on this like it's a new thread still.... Check the date this thread was started. It was started on Feb. 2nd with the author claiming the chameleon had already been missing for a day. It is now Feb 25....

This statement was posted by the author on Feb. 20th in regards to if the Veiled had been found:

Nope. totally heartbroken :(

So.... not to be mean or anything.... but it's probably safe to say that the chameleon is gone for good somewhere..... :(
Very unfortunate for Charlotte..... but let this be a lesson to EVERYONE to NEVER leave a chameleon unattended unless the area it is roaming in is NO LESS THAN 100% escape-proof. If there is ANY way to get out, your chameleon is sure to find it. They are little explorers.

Just my 2 cents.

You don't think we realize this? Even if its found not alive anymore, its closure...so if we can help give any ideas in anyway I don't see the harm.

You are correct in that. Maybe it's best to not know where it went though? Could of just crawled off and died on its own.....not that bad. Wouldn't be that bad to find. But what if it met a terrible fate with another animal, and finding the remains would be devastating.

Could be good or bad, yet closure either way of course. My apologies.

You never know. I read one story of a chameleon being lost outside for quite a few months, but someone found it and managed to contact the owner.
