Anybody? Anyone know a cheap Vet out here want to save this guy anyone please ?

This is not what you want to hear but even if money were not an issue, or a vet would care for your chameleon for free, it would take a miracle to save this guy. You did all you could, it is not your fault.

Really what should I do know ? I'm so upset over this poor guy he just trusts me he walks to My the side of the tank I'm by I assume he can see becouse of this he's used of my feedings if I go to most he just hangs on and sits with my I think he knows it's his time he just states and drinks what's on his nose I'm a mess

I have him on a flat surface would you recommend something for him to climb on I just thought it would cause tangle or problems

I look at the photo bucket picture and the recent ones and besides the tongue there is a big improvement - He doesn't look like he's in pain to me - I don't think there is anything you could have done with this guy but you didn't do bad- I wouldn't be able to give up either and I still haven't -

I would be able to get it in if he would let me help but once I touch it he spits it back out he just chews that's why I try to help or he will hurt himself someone said cut it but I'm scared that would make him bleed I see vains in the tungue otherwise he's full of energy and his 2x as fat he has great grip and leg strength I guess only time will tell but more advice won't hurt

He would probably feel less stress holding on to a branch. It is usually stressful for a chameleon to be stuck on the ground. With this guy, do whatever you feel is best. If it will make you feel better to try everything you can to save him give it a shot. I have dealt with many sick chameleons, it is never an easy decision.

Would you guys recommend I keep him in the 2.5 gallon for the whole time with a soaked wash cloth or is there a better method like emptying his main tank? Thanks I appreciate all of this help if you need reef or coral help or actual stuff I'm here that's all I have to show thanks lol

I would keep him on the flat surface and leave the tough alone. I'm not an expert I've only been keeping chameleons for a 6 months-

rshewfel is probably right about holding on to something- I was worried about the tongue getting tangled or pulled off - being as new as I am I'm going to shut up now- but I wish you the best -

I will get something small so he's comfy at this time thanks for the reply

The tongue makes this a little tricky but I would still give him something to climb on. I would not house him on a wet towel. I would just offer him water with a light misting. Make sure the water is not to cold. The number one thing with chameleons is to make sure they are not overly stressed.

The water is like warm due to the heat lamp he is just basking right now that's what I read to do unless the tongue will dry out so I should remove the wet towel?

I think the towel on the bottom won't hurt if he is on a branch. It will help keep the cage a little humid. Just change the towel every day. I am not sure how easy the tongue will dry out. I have seen this with a chameleon in my care once or twice and they died very quickly.

If you are really going to try are save him you need to contact a vet. My advice is just to try and make him comfortable. I can offer you no advice about the tongue.

There are quite a few threads where keepers had chameleons who's tongues needed to be amputated - It's not a death sentence - but that being said your guy looks like he's was newly imported and was not properly hydrated even before you got him- (among other things) If you can get your father's friend to do the amputation or to see him I would try and do it as soon as possible- if it comes off on it's own there's a high likely hood of infection - and antibiotics mess with their systems also - I wish I could give you better advice on how to keep him comfortable - I would continue to try and get him to drink without forcing -

I just read some other treads about tongue issues. They say keep tongue wet and take to vet. Honestly the vet will more than likely recommend to euthanize him. Good luck to you .

He is one of the best in Staten Island he wants 100-150 just for euthanize I'll see how much he wants for the surgery he will bring down the price most likely as of now Charlie is on a branch under the lights his tail is curled so that's a good sign and his tunge is layer straight on it being misted in intervals is a tropical UVB ok ?its brand new the other ones a year old I'm starting to think this is rrespitory involved so I'm going to keep him as dry as possible

By tropical UVB I imagine you mean either a Reptisun or Reptiglo 5.0? This is ok.

Why do you think there is a respiratory issue as well? The important thing is to keep the tongue moist, which you can do with some KY Jelly, even. Just wipe on a generous amount to keep it from drying. It will have to be amputated but the less the tongue tissue becomes damaged the less chance of infection.

However, he still looks pretty weak to me. That level of sunken eye isn't just from dehydration, it's from really debilitating stress or discomfort. My suspicion, like others', is that he's going to be too weak to survive an amputation surgery.
