Help!!! Me!! ASAP

Just got him to drink drops of water full of repti calcium with d3

By tropical UVB I imagine you mean either a Reptisun or Reptiglo 5.0? This is ok.

Why do you think there is a respiratory issue as well? The important thing is to keep the tongue moist, which you can do with some KY Jelly, even. Just wipe on a generous amount to keep it from drying. It will have to be amputated but the less the tongue tissue becomes damaged the less chance of infection.

However, he still looks pretty weak to me. That level of sunken eye isn't just from dehydration, it's from really debilitating stress or discomfort. My suspicion, like others', is that he's going to be too weak to survive an amputation surgery.

How much does a tunge amputation cost 1 person didn't even know what it was already guessing a lot

Don't do any surgery either - they had that chameleon sedated - Your best bet is to let him rest and keep giving him just plain water until you can get him to the vet -

I've paid about $150 for all chameleon surgeries, pretty much. I also had a veiled need her tongue amputated.

I would gladly pay that these guys are asking that to put him to sleep I'm in a real tight spot wish I could bring this guy to the vendor and get his help wish I knew his name had like 5 tables to himself ughhh

I'm not going to I can just see it getting thiner and thinner god knows what's going on in his mouth

There is a nice hot spot reserved for that vendor - you can only do what you can do - stress in chameleons is deadly so I would try your best to do as little to stress him out as you can- pretty hard with also keeping his tongue moist I know... try and get him to the vet as soon as you can - good luck

Guys notice anything . . He's drinking is the best part I'm going to watch him through the night he's getting used to the new tunge being so short I have good hopes for him

who ever is saying put it to sleep im sorry to question anyone who has the higher ups around here cause i know what happens when you challenge the chiefs on this forum. But i have brought back chams from situations like this do not put it to sleep go to a good reptile vet asap. Get repti boost mix it with luke warm water get a little of that in him and do as the instructions say keep him warm and i humid conditions. Hand feed until he can eat himself. My best guess is they will give you albon and panacur does his poo smell real bad is there blood in it ?

I will I went and worked a triple today to get some budget he needs to hang I'm untill wensday when my dads friends cousin gets in to a vet by me so he will hook me up almost the only vet that's not basically cats and dogs I seen 2 and they said if his tunge is like that he's dead that no chameleon can live without a tungue . So. I need to know what to do I only have a heat lamp that produces light should I leave it on overnight or shut it off make it dark but it will get alitle colder

I would let him sleep with the lights off - I don't know what they would say to feed him - and I don't want to tell you the wrong thing - I've heard others use pedi vite (the water stuff for babies) and to grind up a cricket in it to make a bug juice

I went looking around on what other people have done and Jay's suggestion on reptiboost looks good - there is a carnivore kind that is a powder you mix with warm water - and can give with a syringe- I hope the little guy made it through the night - he looks like a fighter to me

They're wrong, a chameleon can learn to live without it's tongue. If he can pull through this, he can learn to eat and drink without it. You'll probably have to hand feed him, but he can live without his tongue. There are a couple people on here that had chameleons who had to have their tongues amputated. I hope he pulls through, poor little guy.

Here are some tips if you're going to be force-feeding him any liquids/formula:

Chameleon throats are not set up like ours. Their airway opening is on the bottom of their mouths, where you imagine the tongue sits. So if you want to inject any formula into his mouth you have to move the syringe as far back in the mouth as possible. And inject SLOWLY, so he has time to swallow properly. The last thing he needs it to end up with Carnivore Care in the lungs.

I agree, stop mixing vitamins and such into his water. You can however get some Pedialite water, available at any pharmacy or grocery store and give him that as water occassionally as well. It has electrolytes and whatnot so it'll help get him hydrated. And I think one of mine actually really enjoys the taste of it (it's a tinsy bit salty.)

You do not want a light on at night. It's just going to keep him awake at night and cause discomfort. Unless your house is getting below 70ish or so he doesn't need any supplemental heat at night.

And chameleons can learn to do well without a tongue - it's the keeping any infections at bay that's the tricky part. A sore mouth from an infection makes it really much more difficult to get a chameleon to learn to eat because it hurts, so they'll take that much longer to adapt.

Also, please, try to use some punctuation in your replies? It just makes it a lot harder to understand what you're saying. And I want to be able to help you quickly.
