I do not own a chameleon but I own multiple types of geckos so I am new to chameleons. I know all the basics but still unsure of how to sex. I've been looking into getting a cham when I found this on craigslist right by my house. The pics are small so I don't know if you guys will be able to tell. Its a good price and they say its a female, some help on sexing it please??

Thanks

It is hard to tell. Is there a spur on the back of the back feet? I cannot zoom in close enough and it is a weird angle.

Check this thread. Post number 10. The males have a spur on their back feet. https://www.chameleonforums.com/veiled-male-female-age-help-68144/

Welcome to the forums. Below is my blog for new keepers.

Thanks! I knew males had spurs but had never seen a close up like that, now I understand! :D

I can't tell, I haven't seen it in person yet. I was supposed to go look at it today to make sure it was healthy but the seller never emailed back with his address and time.

You may want to ask what is the ripple on the casque too.

Could you clarify what you mean? I don't know the technicals lol

it is hard to tell from the pic but I think he means those little bumps on the casque(the point on his head). It could be something or nothing at all. The pics are not that big and not real clear.

Sorry I don't mean to confuse you. When looking at the chams head do you see a bump/ imperfection on the triangle shape going up the head? Like Carol said it could be nothing or it could be something that you would want to get clarified with the owner or even a vet before you get yourself this cham.

-Yeah i see what he was talking about. The pics are straight from craigslist thats why they're so small. I'll take some pics when I actually see it in person... If this guy emails me back. I dunno but I feel some sketchiness going on with this guy I'm gonna have my guard up on him

-I see what your saying, I'm not new to reptiles or new to looking for health issues before buying, so I'm not dropping money unless its worth my investment
