Help Montane Species Experts > Jacksonii Jacksonii or Willigenesis ??

Hi Everyone, Just need some help identifying my chameleon..I live in Malta and have just purchased a Juvenile Jackson`s Chameleon a couple of weeks agO...I specifically ordered from the petshop a Xantholopus and also knew that there was an option of ordering the Wiligenesis which the petshop owner said that are just the same as Xantholopus but slightly smaller and have a yellow stripe..that is not what I found when I researched as I know that Xanth are on the green side (no yellow stripe) and their frame is slightly bulkier . Although I am more than happy with Grimsby , I informed the petshop owner that what they sent (From Germany) is definitely not a Xantholopus but he insisted that he is ...any help please ...picture attached ( he is slightly on the dark side as I took photo on the first day but the yellow stripe still shows ) > http://www.gophoto.it/view.php?i=ht...-jacksonii-jacksonii-willigenesis-photo-2.jpg

What you have appears to certainly be a j. jacksonii ( or what can sometimes be referred to as willigensis but they are indeed the same).

If you could post a few better pics from the side I could give you a 100% answer

I second this. He's a J. Jacksonii (Mt. Kenya Jacksons). Congrats! They're super rare here in the US!

Hopefully others will confirm as I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I believe that Xanths can sport a yellow stripe. I think your cham is a Xanth

Here`s another pic ...till now we are at 2 saying he`s a JJ and 1 saying Xanth ...

It is not a T. jacksonii xantholophus, it is a T. jacksonii jacksonii. There is actually no such thing as "willigensis". It is a made up name for colorful T. jacksonii jacksonii, that was supposedly named after a smuggler who brought them to Europe from Kenya illegally, but they are simply T. j. jacksonii.

Thanks for that...It`s def a JJ then ...not the Xanth I ordered ..but just the same I would not change it for another as now he is mine take care of and watch him grow healthy :)

This is a friendly reminder that when responding to identification threads, you must be able to justify your answer and must be confident in your answer. It is important for people to know what species they have in order to provide for them accordingly, so please refrain from guessing unless you are confident that you know with certainly which species you are looking at.
