Hey guys, so live in canada and we keep our heat pretty low between 60-68 normally and on ocassion may push 70. humidity has not been an issue yet, im thinking heat will be the biggest. I already know people use shower curtains and stuff to help. i have some extra 2footx2foot acrylic sheets from my drainage id like to use to try and help. however what i don't know is best way to attach it to the cage. i have a diy wood cage.

like the way the cage is built i have like a 1 inch ledge at the bottom so the acrylic sheet can sit on. just need ideas to try and hold it up against the screen or frame. my mom suggested a removeable double sided tape.
Ill get pictures so you guys have a better understanding what the cage is like.

Thanks, James

This should be easy with a wood frame cage. You could simply screw the panels to the frame directly, glue some velcro strips to the wood and the trimmed acrylic sheets, or use some sort of windowscreen toggles. You could make some simple toggles. All you'd really need are some wood screws and something small and flat with a screw hole drilled through it. The toggle would hold the acrylic sheets against the wood cage frame, and you can remove all or some of the sheets in warmer weather as needed.

toggles. have always thought about those never knew what the word was but moment you mentioned it it clicked. since ive posted i actually thought all all 3 you have mentioned. the velcro not sure how i feel about it being their when pieces arent on. or how i feel about having random holes if i decide to screw it in. but might have to do what needs to be done. thanks for the response carl

Yeah, the velcro may not stay attached to the acrylic very well over time. If you pre-drill the screw holes and use good quality brass screws you could keep them in their holes when the panels are off for summer, and use them over and over. Arrange them so they look a bit more "planned" and part of your cage frame. If you really want to minimize the number of screw holes you might be able to use a strip of wood as a trim to hold the acrylic panels in place...just a screw on each end of the wood strip.
