Help!

Veild Cham Owner

Avid Member
So i just had my cham out for about 10 mins of handling and when i put him back in he ran to the back of his cage to get a drop of water he saw on the glass. He didn't get it so i ran the mister again and created some more little drops. He saw a good one but right before he aimed for it it dropped down to the bottom and got into the dirt and he ate a big piece of dirt!! I tried to grab his head so i could pull it out but he wouldnt let me touch it. After he ate it he started to do this weird thing with his beard. He would pull it out open his mouth and close it and pull his beard back in, he did it about 5 times. Also he kept on swallowing like it was stuck. I ran downstairs to get some kale for him to eat ( i know it is high in fiber so i figured he would poop it out soon). He ate it just fine and stopped with the beard thing. He has eaten some dirt before (not on purpose) but has pooped it out just fine, and not as big as the piece he just ate. Do u guys have any ideas so i can get it out of him as soon as possible? i just really dont want it to get stuck in his intestines.

Hopefully he will be able to pass it. I recommend taking the dirt out of the enclosure and just having a bear bottom. It's easier to keep clean that away and less risky for your Chamaeleon.

Yes i am soon, i bought him a new cage today ( it will be here in the next week or so) and i will not be using any of the coconut shaving, just a plastic bottem

Sorry for stealing the thread in a way, I know you can help and don't want to bother everyone with a new one, just wanted to ask you how old should my Cham be when I get him the 4x4x2 cage? He's about 5-6 months old now.

What kind of chameleon do you have? If you have a veiled he probably just about ready for a bigger cage. If a panther then I'd wait a couple more months.

I also have a potted plant i

Vincent is a veiled :D Thank you so much! I'll start researching!

Take the dirt out!

Also, I'd give him something good and juicy, like a big horned worm. :)
