hi ive had my chameleon a week and its first time he's came out of his viv and he wont go back in and he's watching my tv and falling asleep his light have gone out as its his time for bed what should i do? He wont climb onto me ive tryed for last 15minutes he seems very happy where he is

Make sure that area is very warm and let him sleep there? Or squirt him with water and trick him into climbing onto you. Idk what to do about the light thing

Of course, this is more of a last resort, but you could try luring him with food (but keep it out of his reach). I know it's not the nicest, but it works.

Sometimes when my boy doesn't want to leave his tree, I slowly move my hand closer to him from behind. This usually worries him so he moves onto my arm.

Going leave him there, beacuse ive only had him for a week the trust isnt completely there so if i was to creep up on him and spoook him the trust might go. My house is at 70F and its 7;44 at night so he should be fine for the night

There isn't anything potentially harmful nearby, is there?
When my boy's in his ficus he's an escape artist when he's awake.

No he's in my bed room his on plant by his viv which is left open.

Why would you want that area to be very warm?

Chameleons actually benefit from a temperature drop at night. So 90% of the time room temperature will be more than warm enough for a chameleon or even to warm in some species...
As long as they have a good basking spot the next day a veiled will be fine with temperatures as low as 50F and even high 40's.

As long as they have a good basking spot the next day a veiled will be fine with temperatures as low as 50F and even high 40's.

I would just gently get your hands on him. This will wake him up and make him want to move away. Strategic hand placement in front of him should have him climbing right onto your hand, and then, put him back into his cage in a spot he will warm up in the am. What was he watching on TV?

This is why we were telling you that we did not think a heater at night was necessary. We couldn't imagine the room getting that cold.

As has been suggested by @Remkon, why don't you just gently pick him up and put him back in his enclosure? There is nothing wrong with slipping your fingers under him and having him grab on to your fingers as you carefully lift him up. If you are gentle with him and make slow, deliberate movements, you should not startle him too much. He should get used to you picking him up from time to time anyway.

This is absolutely terrible advice. Given that you did not know about the benefit of night temperature drops, do you really think you are experienced enough to be offering advice to people? Obviously you are well meaning, but giving advice on things you are not knowledgable about only hurts those who don't know better than to ignore you.

I was always told that reptiles shouldn't be kept at cold temperatures but now i know better don't I? Also i wasn't serious about the last one. I thought that was kinda obvious.
Second edit: Also agreed with the 'let them sleep there' statement so I figured it was obvious the squirting water thing was a joke. That would stress them out too much especially if it was directed at the face.

A word of advice: If you think there is a chance that your jokes will be taken seriously on a forum dedicated to assisting people who need correct information, either don't make them or make a disclaimer that you're being sarcastic.
