He's a taster!

Today I had Zippy out and put him in a small ficus to take some photos. Before he climbed on he did something that I wasn't expecting! He 'tasted' it with the tip of his tongue, not once, but twice! It was so cute! I hadn't realised Carpets taste things like Panthers do! He tasted his vine in his viv too when I put him back in! :D

We were talking about this just the other day actually. Panthers, carpets, oustalets, quads and fischers have all been seen "tasting". Be interesting to see if there are more species known for this...

I haven't seen any of my 3 Veileds do it and Monty doesn't either so Zippy took me by surprise today! It was just too cute! (Thanks for your reply on fb too!)

When Popeye ( panther ) explores my lamp by my chair he always tastes it as he walks up the pole. Didn't know that was normal. Thanks.:)

I'm glad this was brought up. I noticed my panthers always tasting their vines etc... I was wondering if this was normal haha.

My verrucosus would occasionally "taste". My two panther boys taste all day long. :p

I haven't noticed Boo do that, I'll have to watch him next time I get him out :)

It's so cute! He actually did it in the box on the way home too. We were watching him whilst waiting for the ferry and he tasted the plastic mesh in his box! Then he snapped up a cricket that I put in. Haven't seen him eat since, but the food disappears and poop appears in its place so everything is good!:D

Taste!

I'm so glad to find this put! I'd assumed Ivy was thirsty and looking for water, so was worried it was a sign of dehydration!
