Hello guys and girls.
I'm Lloyd and live in the south east of England but from South Africa originally.
I have been doing lots of research over the last 6 weeks and so many of my searches give me links to this sight so thought is was about time I joined up and introduced myself.
About 15 years ago I had a Chinese water dragon for quite a while and loved it. Had him a few years and was so much fun.
I am now looking at getting my first Cham. It's going to be a Veiled chameleon (Yemen) and I am really looking forward to it after weeks of research. Over the next couple of weeks I am going to start to buy my set up and get it all ready for my new friend, a female called Arwen, possibly. Yes, been researching to much I think, lol.
Thanks for all the help already but I am sure you will have some silly questions off me sometime, however I am a massive fan of the search button and always seems to help.

Welcome to our world. You can get almost any kind of help here that you want. We have lots of people in the UK so you may even find someone near you.

I am on here a lot just reading and learning as much as I possible can but am worried about how difficult a Cham can be to look after. Am I starting to worrie to much do you think? I really don't want to rush into anything and a lot of my research is going well and was hoping to start to get my set up soon.
Another question is about the viv. I see lots of different ones but I always thought mine would be one with a glass front, mess roof for circulation and the rest of it wood. Is this not a good idea as most that I see on here are all mess?

Just wanted to say thanks again to everyone on this site that posts usful information.
Sadly I still don't own a Cham yet but hope it will be soon, 2 months ish.
I just love coming on here and reading all about your pets and learning as much as I can, thanks.

I think most, if not all, worry for our chameleons since they have a reputation to be 'fragile'.
Reptiles and even chameleons are pretty tough creatures provided they get proper care and little stress as possible. So it's your job to provide the proper enviroment and if there is a change in his behaviour you should keep a closer eye. Reptiles are very good in hiding their weaknesses so an illnes may show when it's already to late.

This forum is great since it has a lot of folk that do have experience with illness so whenever you think something is off, snap a picture and ask! It's reassuring to know you can count on that!

  • Vivarium: 36 X 24 48 is this size viv going to last for my cham all its live, or will I need to go larger?
