Kp was having a bad shed that’s lasting over a week, so I made him a humidifier maybe it’ll help.

Haha I did it on purpose so people would look at the thread lol whoops.

I can post some instructions if need be? (y)

So what I did was first I ordered a ultrasonic diffusing humidifier off of amazon for 13 bucks. That’s what creates your fog.

next I found a suitable container. I was going to use a protein bottle, one of the big ones but I felt it’d be a waste to spend 20 bucks on something I definitely don’t use haha so I opted for a cheaper container I got at Walmart. Any container will do, whatever fits your astetic needs and is large enough for you. I only have to put water in mine every other week.

Next, I got a computer fan from Best Buy, Small and simple fam to push the fog out.

So the set up goes as follows,

I used the cord that came with the humidifier to power the fan by splicing (cutting into) the cord that came with the humidifier, allowing enough of the wire to lead back to the diffuser while also giving me some slack for the fan. I tested the terminals by plugging the humidifier cord (that is now cut and two wires are stripped and showing) and placed the leads off of the fan to each one, if it starts blowing then you know which one is positive and which is negative, if it doesn’t then switch it.

I then Sautered the fan wires into the negative and positive leads of the cord. Then wrapped heat shrink around each one of the cut leads on the opposite cord, and sauntered them together to bassically repair the cut that I made. Heat shrink where the sauter is, then cover with electrical tape. The fan and fogger will come on at the same time.

Then, I cut a hole in the lid of my container using a hole saw bit. I was having problems with water splashing up into my fan, so what I did was used screen mesh that is used for windows, I put three pieces on there, to restrict water and also restrict the airflow of my fan because the fog was dissipating too fast, and it also restricted water from coming back up. I also cut a 12 oz Dr Pepper on both ends of the bottle to add some height to the fan.

I then used my sauter gun to burn holes the size of the tubing. I used, I had smaller tubing at the house so I put three exit vent tubes.

Then I used a timer, set to every hour to run for 20 minutes. Works like a charm. There’s easier ways to do it, I just had a lot of time on my hands haha (y)

Nice! Do you have a link for the PC fan? Did it work well? I'm looking for a good one for my dart frog enclosure.
It’s an insignia fan, got it at Best Buy. And yeah it works really well, like insanely well. It’d be perfect for a dart frog enclosure. It’s quite and runs like a champ.

Thanks so much for the info! I might just end up rigging up one of those myself . . . hopefully I don't confused along the way! Sounds like it was a real bargain. Quite ingenious. Not sure if I could ever come up with something that creative for my chams. Glad I have this site for the ideas. ;)
