Honest thoughts.

Im working with what I've got right now I will be soon building a much larger enclosure for my cham here in the near future. But as of right now I'm using a Exo terra 18x18x24" enclosure. I'm wanting advice of what you guys think of it. Things it's missing, goods, bads, ect.

It's housing a I'd say 2-5month old female jackson chameleon. Has a 26w repti glo 5.0 UVB bulb. Gives a basking spot of 80 degrees at the top and it's around 72-74 degrees at the bottom.

Idea's? Input? Anything would be appreciated, just want her to feel at home.

looks ok for now but that big piece of wood could go ,and put more dol rods or stick couple level so the cham can sit level , more vines also, different sizes for the feet, thats about it for now ,

yeah give him some more branchs/places to perch or roam across.

Take that big branch and wedge it acorss the enclosure if possible and drape the fake vines along it perhaps?

Ditch the bowl, or put something over it like a screen so he does not fall into it.

The only reason the water bowl is in there is to catch water from the dripper lol. Forgot to mention that. Just didn't feel like having a red solo cup in there lol.

Yeah i had a glass enclosure I knew why it was there, that's why i suggest a screen over it.

Hah done and done. Added quite a few new branches in and also covered the dish up temporarily with a peice of clear mesh stuff.

Take it easy buddy, in a glass enclouser it helps to catch watier dripping as opposed to stressing out the cham by moping up the bottom daily. I do agree it should be covered though

Lol that what I was saying. I did cover it up so that's taken care of. I do understand what he was getting at but it was a bit much .

Everyone grab your red solo cups and party!!!
I have a couple of geckos in a glass vivarium and they do fine.
Chams really need a screened enclosure for air flow and other reasons.

So are glass setups ok to use? I have the same exact enclosure for my 7 month old veiled i just got, tomorrow im probably getting a huge one but its glass also, its almost like what you'd see in petsmart for a parrot, about 6ft tall 3.5ft wide, maybe 2 or 3ft deep, im gonna load it up with branches and things

It explains why some are better than others. I have to say, screen/mesh are easier for so many reasons, but it depends on species.

Everyone prefers screen enclosures, helps with heat issues and ventilation. Also makes it so you don't have to wipe water out of your enclosure all the time. As soon as I can I'll be getting a large screen enclosure.

I read something that said its actually not the airflow that they need in the screen cages, its so they cant see their reflections and get stressed, anybody know which is true?

Both are true. If you sort out airflow, they can still get stressed, mine did. If the airflow isn't there they will get respiratory infections and fungal infections.

Also found out Exo terra viviariums are not temered glass so that being said I may drill a hole in the bottom and the sides and put mesh over it for extra airflow.

On some of these glass enclosures you can actually remove the doors. Maybe make a screen door and take those, or at least one, off maybe?

I may have to mess around with it today. If I can figure it out I'll go to lowes today and buy the screen and make it work. good call!
