How’s this chameleon’s health?

I’m new to the hobby and I’m contemplating in getting a 2-year old, male, panther cham (see attached photo).

I just need an advice on his health as I think his color is a little drab and something’s wrong with his spine.

What do you guys think? Thanks in advance!

Definitely walk away. Especially with it being your first. As mentioned above, his crest scales appear wonky and his fat pads are completely void which means he's malnourished and or dehydrated.
I've attached a pic of my guy so you can compare the fat pads to see what it should 'normally' look like.
The guy you posted has great color potential and I'm sure he can bounce back in no time with proper husbandry.

Wow, that’s a gorgeous cham!

Thanks for the advice. I’m actually leaning towards walking away. I don’t think I’m ready at this point to “rescue” a cham.
