I have been told they should be at 75 to 80 but my house is not that warm. The light heat too much on small enclosure and not enough on the 10 gal tank. I tried heating pad at night, and even warm mist humidifier. Has anyone ever used these thinks?
I simply put a 40 or 60 watt bulb in a clamp lamp and clip it on to the container. In these pics I actually have a 60 watt bulb shared between 2 Panther baby cages. Are you using a digital thermometer? Do not use a humidifier-humidity is fine here and you don't want to cause URI.
hi there
If the tank has a lid or top with a few air vents you could cover it fully, as that would keep in most heat and humidity from warm misting. Other than that i dont see how i can help.....
I don't heat my babies at night. It has been 61 in the house in the morning these last several cold days and they are fine. They warm right up with their bulbs. I do the same thing you do with my clamp light. 60 degrees and shared work fine. Just keep your eye on the urates, if they are white then everything is ok. Mine are now shedding which is also good. They are 1.5 months old.
Thanks that me feel better knowing they can go to 68 or 69 at night, maybe I can sleep tonight! Best news ever my 1st baby just eat 3 fruit fly!! It has been 5 days and I though I was going to loose him. There are now 5 that have hatched some not looking so good but will keep my fingers crossed.
5 days before eating is not unusual. It takes awhile for the neonates to develop a hunger I guess. Just offer a few flies at a time and don't dump them in.
