How do you prime a mist king pump

I didn't realize home much water my mist king was actually using and during the last 30 seconds of this mornings 1st mist it started to gurgle and was sucking air.

I wasn't over worried about it since it was just the final seconds of a 5 min mist so I put more water in and went to work. I came home and decided to put it on manual on for a min. I can here the pump humming but no water at all. That means the 2 misting sections during the day while I was at work did nothing at all.

How do I prime the pump? It's installed correctly to the pump to gravity feed and was working flawless ever since I installed it about 4 or 5 days ago. It's brand spaninking new and this was the 1st bucket of water that went through it.

For now I'm headed to the store for a hand sprayer

I've had a couple of dry runs with mine. What I do is have the pump running while I disconnect the line from the 90* into the spray head and put it into a bucket. (bucket should be lower than the enclosure/ spray head while you're priming the pump). You need to purge the air from the line and you need the bucket to catch the water. Turn the pump off and reconnect your line. Wha-la! it sprays again. I have a few sputters once I re-connect, but 10-20 seconds later the rest of the air is purged and back to a normal spray pattern.

How is your Reservoir in relation to the pump, I don't fill mine till it goes dry, I have never had to prime mine, but my Reservoir is really close to the pump, like you said also gravity fed, but my understanding of pumps is, if it pushes water well, the pump doesn't usually have the best ability to pull water(from the reservior)

I am a car mechanic and with cars, the fuel pump is placed in the tank so it can pull the fuel easy.
Once the pump has the fuel like the mistking it can send fuel with good pressure a fairly long way.

Looking closer at mine I forgot to raise my Reservoir up when I moved everything, still never have to prime mine once.
Hope this helps! IMG_20170708_072450.jpg

inmay have to shorten the hose between the bucket and pump. The instructions say no more then 2' of hose there and I only have 18" but that is the only thing different between mine and yours.

I even turned the pump on and held the bucket up as high as I could with that 18" is hose and it still wouldn't pump. All it would do is drip from the nozzle

I did as MSmorgan suggested and now it works fine. I figured hat would work because that's what I had to do it get it going the first time. I thought maybe I had a busted spat head so I disconnected it he line and turned the water on and had water. Then connected it back up and it was working just fine. I wrote it off to I didn't have the line pushed into the head far enough. Then it ran dry... so know I know not to let it run dry and if it does disconnect the the head.
