How friendly is YOUR chameleon?

I have a 5 month old male veiled chameleon. He is my first chameleon and I have had him for a week already. He is very friendly and sweet. The first day I got him, I unboxed him and he just quickly crawled out of the container he came in and got on my hand and them started to crawl up my arm. I left him in his cage for 3 days. I tried to feed him but after his 3rd day in his new home, he began to eat. I was happy. He ate 11 crickets and 2 dubia roaches that day. I remember he ate about 3 to 4 crickets off my hand and let me remind you this was his first meal since I got him. The next day I decided to handle him and he was cool with it. He got on my hand and began to crawl up my arm, got to my shoulder and then got on my back and then made his way to my head. He also isn't camera shy because I've made several videos with him and I think he really likes the camera :p Today is exactly my first week with him and I decided to handle him again. He was cool about it. Instead of handling him for a minute, I held him for about 5 to 6 minutes and he was happy. His green colors were coming out. Now whenever I open my cage, he makes his way from the back of the cage to the front of it. I'm not sure if he wants me to handle him or if he just wants to be close to me. Sometimes when I feed him he will get impatient and eat the crickets off my hand before I can even put them in the cage haha. I love my little guy so much :D

My Cham loves to hangout with me and be outside of his cage. Whenever I open his cage door he quite literally runs down his tree and reaches out for me. He will climb right up my sleeve and hangout on my shoulder as long as he can. I know that handling causes stress, but I'm pretty sure my Cham likes climbing on me:) When it's sunny(which is quite often because I live in San Diego) I walk him out to the backyard and let him suck up that natural sunlight. He loooooves it:D

Chazam jr is a pissy boy doesn't tolerate handling at all but my wc
K. boehmei and T. Elliot's don't mind at all no stress colors or nothing. It's strange in my house!!!

My wild caught Graceful is very 'friendly.' My new Jackson's is awesome - eats out of my hand and comes out on his own.

My Panther on the other hand... hates my guts!!

My veiled didn't like me at first, wouldn't come out and if he did he'd show his angry colors:rolleyes: wouldn't eat if me or my wife were within 5 feet of his cage. But now since he can't see I think he knows when we are handling him. he sits in his viv for most of the day, moves a bit when we mist him or just to walks to stretch I guess. But when I take him out to give him medicine and food he actually turns his nice bright green and walks all over us. Sounds odd but I think he knows it's us handling him now and doesn't argue too much anymore... He doesn't like his medicine but maybe knows as soon as that's over he's getting food too:eek:

Love this thread! Our lil panther guy Pascallywagz... (AKA Pascal) is pretty friendly. He often goes straight to the door as soon as he sees one of us and hangs there just staring like "Um...are you going to let me out?". I'll open his door and he'll climb out onto it and head straight toward me..hanging halfway off his door, reaching for me until I put my hand out for him to climb on. Other times, I'll come in and he'll flare up & sometimes even show me his teeth as if to say "Not right now.". I adore this lil man & am very glad he let's me know what's up. He'll gladly eat out of my hand (especially for treats!) & loves warm showers.

My female panther has reverse PMS. Once a month she rushes up to you like a puppy. Friendly hangs out, and even chases you hand around to bump her head against it for eye ridge rubs. I'm pretty sure you can guess what she is like the rest of the month.
Problem is she seems to take delight in making you guess which week it will be every month
Ahh well everyone has to have a personality I guess.

My veiled is very friendly, of course after he burned his tongue and has to be feed through a syringe he gets handled a lot, he lives free range and has the run of the house, but he prefers to hang around on the blinds in the living room, he has 5 large windows with blinds to play and roam around on, he also has a large tree in the sun room that he will hang out in sometimes and he has limbs and vines and plants in our office that he likes to stay on when we put him in there with us while I work......this boy has been friendly since day one.

it's kinda funny, i haven't really made any attempts with my new jackson xanth, only been with me 2 weeks, but he does seem a bit skittish.

where minion, my veiled loves coming out of his cage so much, i built a small free range tree for him this week. he never shows any aggression, maybe cuz he relates my hand with din din(hand feeding).

seems it is diff for each cham.

Marimo doesn't love me, per say, he has a will of his own. He does, however, tolerate me and let me take him out, especially if he gets to climb on his big ficus tree! He will stare at food between my fingers and on my hand for a good long 3ish minutes before turning around and walking off. (Sometimes he will snatch a fly from my fingers, but that's it). I think we're making slow progress! We were on vacation around christmas, so we've only been back a couple of weeks now.

Yuki used to eat from my hands, drink when I held her up to her dripper and everything. Now that she's on the mend, she hisses and tries to bite me (It's cute, in a sad way. She's so small that it doesn't hurt, and tries to look so menacing while falling over!). I'm hoping it's just a phase and she will come around. Today she didn't hiss or bite, and ALMOST ate from my hand. I was holding it for 5-10 minutes and my arm started going numb and I had to switch positions. She ran off :D

its a fight

Well with my almost 2 year old nosy be Bodhi it is a fight if i open the cage door, he wants out the sooner i put him in the sooner he climbs back out. On me or around me he finds away to get out to come hang out. My 1 year old ambanja Ranger is hit or miss sometimes he climbs out some times i need to pick him up, but he always likes being out of his cage. Some say i hit the lotto twice because my chams are so friendly.

My female Jackson, she is NOT the fuzzy love kind at all- do love BITES count as being friendly :p she is wc, and is just still scared , I do not try to touch her unless I have no choice - but I know she will never be the " I'm glad to see you, let me get on your hand " type of girl - but thats ok too - :)

Let's see ... when it comes to my veiled ( Winter ) , she's like this

My female jackson is a little grump butt. If you try and pick her up she'll run first then if you are a bit persistant and pick her up she'll try and bite you if you touch her again. lol

I have this bright iphone case that my veiled hates. whenever I'm on the phone going into my room he puffs up and starts shaking right and left. sometimes he walks to the front of the cage and hisses. VEILDS ARE NUTTSSSSSSSSS.

from the experience of owning both veilds and panthers, veilds are definitely more aggressive.

My Oustalet's was raised by and has the personalty of a bearded dragon. Doesnt run or anything, doesnt mind picked up but wont make an effort. Sits on heat rocks...

I thought no chameleon should be sitting on a heat rock, Doesn't it cause health issues? Anyone with more experience want to share info about heat rocks and chams/the issues they cause? I've just read multiple times to stay away from heat rocks

While off topic, 99.99% of chams wont sit on a hot rock or drink water out of a bowl just due to anatomy. However there are exceptions , mine likes to sit on warm balasts and lizard heat rocks. The rocks still only get to dog/cat body temp (102f) and the cham still cant get more than feet and alittle tummy on it.

My veiled Spike is 5 months old today! (Happy B-day Spike) He was about 1.5 month's old when I got him. I wouldn't say he's friendly, but he's not nasty either. I have found that if I wear green, and VERY slowly put my hand toward him, he won't puff up, gape or hiss. He kind of rolls a bit and looks at me as if to say what do you think your doing? If I move too fast or he doesn't like what I'm wearing he cops a major attitude! I hand feed him every afternoon when I get home from work and he's cool with that as long as my hand is 5 inches away from him. He does not want me to take him out of his cage. I can get my hand up under him and just about get him out, but he scrambles to find something to cling onto so I just let it go as to not stress him out. I am hoping he'll finally figure out how much he's loved and will eagerly want for my affection.

My chameleon is so friendly that its kind of scary lol.

Every morning he wakes up and comes over to the door and stares at me till I feed him. Then he makes his way to the lamp and sits there for like 10 minutes then comes back to the door and stares at me till I get him out. Then he brightens up instantly. He loves me. He sits in the bathroom on a tree while I shower, well the other day I took a bath and he tried to climb in with me. Seriously my cham is obsessed with me lol

He pouts if I don't get him out too.
