umm can ne 1 help me i need to know how many chameleons can live together cause ima gettin a male and i hve a female and if u hve two get cages for them both and then some for the babys if they hve ne ill be broke plz help me out

If you don't put them together, you won't have babies.

Also, if you can't afford to keep them as happy as possible, don't keep them at all.

Also, get ready for the grammar squad to stop by anytime.

1 Chameleon = 1 cage

babies..... you should work on your husbandry skills before you breed, but babies can be housed together

but thats just my two cents

They all have to live in seperate cages in most species. What kind of chams do you have? If it will make you broke to properly house them perhaps you should not be getting the secone one.....

what?

alright, ill see if i an figure this out.

Adult chameleons need their own enclosures, they are fine housed together up till about 3-4 months, at this point territorial issues arise, higher stress ratings, chances of leg/tail nipping can happen which could perminatly damage one of your animals.

you can quarter up a larger cage perhaps into 3 sections one of the 48"x 24"x24"

as long as you set things up right you can be quiet cost effecient.

I believe he was asking for help with the chams not with his grammar. He does not even have his location posted so you don't even know where he is from to post judgement on that.....

I think you will be broke sooner if you keep both chameleon in 1 cage.
(Since, one of them will be dominated and soon die out of stress).
Before jumping into a breeding project, I highly suggest to calculate the cost and reconsider if you still want to do it.
breeding takes a lot of money and time.

I don't mind about his grammar, I was just letting him know ahead of time that some people on the forum apparently take offense to it.

Sorry for any misunderstanding. :)

Here is an idea of a small percentage of breeding costs, for what it's worth https://www.chameleonforums.com/cost-raising-69-baby-18467/

Chameleons are wonderful creatures, but we need to consider them & their needs before ours. It is an expensive hobby just to care for one (chameleon, proper enclosure, bulb replacements, vet trips, etc).

Search the posts here, research lots, make an informed decision and both your chameleon(s) & yourself will be much happier together.

Great thread right there, I was just getting ready to paste it but you beat me to it. :)

What type of chameleon are you getting? Well, most species of chameleons require separate cages when they reach the 3-5 months old. So you'll probably be needing 2 cages for the very least. This will also prevent any pregnancies if you don't want to have babies. Keeping both of them together will get you a gravid female whether you want (and/or can afford) them or not. If down the road you do get fertile eggs and manage to hatch them, you can keep the babies in sterilite plastic shoebox containers (about ~$1 each), milk jugs (as seen in screameleons) and even terraniums/aquariums. But they will eventually reach the 3-5 month old mark and will then require individual cages.

I think he's from Hawaii. It's probably wild caught. Oahu sounds Hawaiian to me xD

I thought the same about the location :) and assumed this was a wild.

Either way if he wants it to live he's going to need help.
