How to convince parents?

amazon yes I have seen them cheap there too. but for the most part everything will be pet store cost...that's what I was showing him...I got my two 42 in cages for free of cl from some poor failed herp keepers. and I scan every day to make sure I get anymore. lol there is cheaper ways to all on my list but a beginner will not raise his own food and get hooked up with medicine from friends that work at a vets office.

i have not been a member long but have seen some horrific care from reptile shows..im in md..the uva bulbs at petco are like 25 a piece depending on watts. the mercury vapor powerson 100 watt is what i use. it cost 50..the reptisun 10.0 is what you need if you don't use the vapor is for a 4 ft cage..thats what i have yes i got the cage free because im awesome!! but the 10.0 comopact is 42.99 plus tax. close enough to 50....and does the guy smoke...cigs???weed?? that will kill a herp quick..i know i made a mistake with weed before oops ...rip sir walter riley...the horn worms at my local store ar 95 cents each...the crickets are 12 for a buck..silk worms are 95 cents there...i raise horns and have a bulk supplier i use in va that sends me supers and silks for 30 cent but it took me a while to catch on to that..when i was a beginner i was oblivious to it. i was giving him his pet store cost in its max from the stores i know in md

GET THE PICTURE LITTLE MAN...GET A GECKO OR A ANOLE

So other members have already pointed out how wildly inaccurate and hyperbolic this is, so I won't add to that other then to say that I've never read anything about needing UVA at all. But it's not just misleading, it's intentionally misleading, its exclusive, and it's downright rude. I can understand your reaction due to the phrasing used by the OP, which implied that he would be "getting away with something" by getting a cham, but "GET THE PICTURE LITTLE MAN...GET A GECKO OR A ANOLE"?? Seriously?! You may as well have just said "**** off, we're too cool for you." You even said that you were giving the highest possible estimants he would find at a pet store instead of showing him/her where the best deals are, which is the action of someone seeking to spin and discourage rather then educate and let the OP and their parents decide. Just the fact that they are on this forum is a sign of commitment and responsibility.

dude your 22 your parents want there life back get the !@#%$ out so they can run around naked again!! you have prevented that for them for over 22 years..then you should know that after rent..food...lights...cable.... girl friend (s) bar nights ..fridge beer..xbox 360 membership you will not have time nor the money for this animal I was 22 once and I ate beer for food. and had crackle for cable..its tough man you have other things to think about before a lizard.

Speak for yourself. I'm around that age and personally I find the raising and nurturing of an animal to be several orders of magnitude more satisfying then getting drunk and playing video games, and as such make it a higher priority in my life. That is just my opinion though

Yeah true that! That Van gogh guy started disrespecting me and I wasn't even the op, he has no idea of my situation, and I don't play xbox n stuff like that, and I have a FEW grand saved up already and put aside for chameleon purposes. His condescending tone was a little unnecessary :/

ps aesop is rad!

Maybe eating beer is your problem.. I don't drink. I don't play xbox, I have one, but only my dad plays it. If I leave so does the xbox so I'm sure he doesn't want that.

Nice sn though, I love Van Gogh!

Sorry I forgot to post the picture in the last post.

I am happy for you. Chameleons are so cool. I love my guy. I am a single mother of two living on a tight budget but I manage to have what is needed to care for my veiled Rebel. A misting system is not a must, its nice to have but not a must. A screen cage can be built for way less than $300.00 Just be creative and search for good deals.

Good luck with your new baby and keep us all updated with pictures..:D

GET THE PICTURE LITTLE MAN...GET A GECKO OR A ANOLE

Ceramic heater? Not necessary for a chameleon unless your night time temps drop below 50.
Little man? Your reply is not only unhelpful, but condescending.

GET THE PICTURE LITTLE MAN...GET A GECKO OR A ANOLE

Gecko or anole? Just because the animals are cheap does not mean they are disposable or that they don't have specific requirements. They also need live insects, lights, plants, etc.

What an irresponsible answer.
