How to safely remove sperm plugs?

My Chameleon has finally started to get sperm plugs, and It seems like he's got yet another stuck one. I removed one before because it was really seeming to bother him, but I'm always afraid I might hurt him. Does anyone have some tips on how to safely remove them?

You should try and bath him in warm shallow water before resorting manual pull. How long has it been stuck?

I only just noticed it today. He had another one about a day or two ago.

I would just leave it alone and and next time he poops it should come out. What was he doing before that you said you noticed it really bothered him???

I agree don't try and remove them. Try and feed some hornworms or give him a nice warm shower.

He seemed to try getting it out himself but simply couldn't...

I can't feed hornworms because of his size. For whatever reason, he is really rather small for his age, most other 8-9 month olds are twice his size.

You can buy small hornworms, but they do grow very quickly.

I was looking into purchasing butterworms because they seem smaller... would they be about the same?
