Ok I will look for some rocks right nowIf you don't have the means to replace the soil at the moment, at least cover the soil with river rocks(or some type of stone that isn't easily moved or eaten) so that it isn't accessible to your little guy.
hello
I have been hand misting my two month old panther Cham and it just isn't increasing the humidity. I am looking to buy a zoomed reptile fogger will that increase the humidity quick?(it has been sitting @ 24% and even tho I have only owned a Cham for 4 days I know that 24% is NOT good)
Thanks,
Justin
Yes cause I put the gauge in the bathroom after I took a shower and it went up to 70%You sure your gauge is working? The reading sounds impossible right after misting.
I have been feeding him crix gut loaded with carrots and potatoes and I havnt seen him eat since I got himHi, so it does look like you could add more sticks or bendy vines for him to climb on. I would definitely change the heat lamp ( chams don't need one if your house is kept around 67-70 degrees) to a regular incandescent bulb such as a 60 or 75 Watt depending on what your basking spot temp ends up being. Mine is around 88-90 degrees.
Regarding your plant you need to wash the leaves really well. I use dove liquid dish washing soap. I suds the leaves really well... Leave it on 5-10 mins and wash it off really well. Give the dirt a really good soaking in your shower or sink so water runs out off the pot.
Panthers aren't prone to eating soil or leaves like veils chams so you don't have to worry about them eating soil that much but there are always exceptions. If you see it happening then cover the soil with rocks big enough that your Cham can't eat.
Regarding humidity. You can cover 2 -3 of sides of your enclosure with plastic to help keep humidity in. It can be as easy as taping a garbage bag to the outside of the cage.
About his appetite, How much has your Cham been eating and what type of insects have you been feeding him?
So you said that you have only had him for four days? He probably is really scared in his new home and sometimes it takes them a few days till they feel comfortable enough to eat. Also he is really little so what size crickets are you feeding him?I have been feeding him crix gut loaded with carrots and potatoes and I havnt seen him eat since I got him
It is around the same as the tank and I live in Alamo, CAWhere do you live? What is the outside humidity like? What is humidity like in your house? 27% humidity is crazy low if you just misted? Perhaps you need to change cages or block off some screens of the cage with plexy to help retain some moisture.
they r small crickets from petco (they r as small as the space between his eyes)The size of the crickets you feed him should be no bigger then the space between his eyes.
If they're to big he won't eat them and may even be afraid of them
The jar was filled with water for the humidity but I took them out almost as soon as I put them in. I now know that it was VERY dangerousSo you said that you have only had him for four days? He probably is really scared in his new home and sometimes it takes them a few days till they feel comfortable enough to eat. Also he is really little so what size crickets are you feeding him?
I see you have a jar in the cage is that to hold the crickets for him to eat?
Yes cause I put the gauge in the bathroom after I took a shower and it went up to 70%
I just purchased the monsoon system. It's a but expensive but makes misting sessions a lot easier. It didn't help my humidity as much as our cold air humidifier though. I definitely recommend using both. It keeps our humidity in the 60s and we were dropping into the 20s and 30s before we started using a humidifier and automatic misting system.I was also wondering if the monsoon misting system is any good. It's just for now because I need to get the humidity up.
So I fill up my spray bottle with Warm water then spray his whole cage for around 5-6 minWhat are the temps inside and outside of the cage?
Is there a strong breeze going through the room where you keep the cage? Are doors or windows often open for example?
Can you talk us through how you are misting at the moment?
The temp inside the cage is 90-100 near the bulb and 68-78 almost everywhere else the temp outside is high 60s-low 70s. And no I never have the windows openSo I fill up my spray bottle with Warm water then spray his whole cage for around 5-6 min
