More live plants, misting it, the use of an automated misting system, and a room humidifier. All these are used to create humidity. What type of cham are you keeping in that viv?

he was in a glass viv, but the glass was freakinh him out.
i may have to look into buying a wooden one

Try putting plants around the outside of the cage, not just the inside. Something cheap like pothos or whatever.
You'd be surprised how much room humidity in general can be raised with some houseplants.

England isn't the only location. I would recommend using a shower curtain for 2-3 sides in any colder enviroment. I am out of Rochester NY and its either winter or construction season around here...I have a humidifier going along with 2-3xs a day with a hand mister along with a dripper. I even close the doors so that the hot steam from the shower creates added humidity. During the winters like right now with the humidifier on I am getting 55% - 60%...
Correct me if I am wrong, but Veiled Chams don't need added humidity, do they?

I tried the plants around the cage thing, and it made him hang out on the side looking at those plants, he wanted on them so badly, but they were not chameleon safe. I had to move them away so that he didnt spend all his time sticking on the side.

temp in the house is around 23, i would have no idea on humidity - the middle of his viv is 73.2, i have his basking light set at 88 - he's 4 months old, so dont really know if he can with stand a higher basking spot??????????????
just read the kitty blog & it says young adults can hae the basking at 95, but i dont really know what is classed as a young adult????????????

Those temps are fine...ummm for humidity...40% is ideal for a base humidty but you would want it to spike to 50%-60% during misting and remain there for like an hour after. If your having trouble reaching this... which I cant really see if your getting those temps, I would definitely try the shower curtain idea over 2 or 3 sides of your cage.

Also keep in mind if you have an AC or heater running, that sucks the humidity out of the room really fast. A cheap humidifier might be in order here.

ha ha - its way too cold for air con at the moment, wont need that untill at least july!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
humidity is resting at 40 at the moment, gonna add some more plants tomorrow (he's eating throught the ones i have), & see's if that will make a difference - if not, shower curtain it is.

When I first got my chameleon, the cage humidity wouldnt stay above 40% very much unless I misted.
After a few days, the general humidity of the soil and days of misting on end helped carry a humidity for like 50% easy now.
Try misting more often at shorter intervals, and let the plant itself retain a lot of moisture before you call it quits.
