I admit defeat...

I have discoids, dusky cave roaches, and surinamers and none of them climb the plastic of their bins. My banana roaches do, but I actually find them really pretty and non-roachy so I don't even care if I see one out and about, I just snatch it up with tweezers and back it goes. They are great. I hate the wild roaches more than words can say, but I really do tolerate the roaches pretty well. They aren't very fast, they don't climb, they don't fly... they just walk around eating. Pretty non-offensive, if you ask me lol

i was ok with the one or two crickets here and there i was..

but coming home and catching 50 bugs in ten minutes, not my idea of a good time.

just a junior member but i've never even seen a cricket climb my plastic bin and i just use a couple rubbermade bins with a window cut out at the top with a screen fastened with duck tape. they cant seem to get a grip on the plastic. also i make sure that the height of my egg crates(although i use those cheap card board planter thingys from lowes) isn't more than half way up the bin. i use plastic pipe that i've sanded to create texture on the inside for them to crawl up and cap the top so when i go to feed i just pull the pipe out and nock a few into a cup. i dont keep as many crickets as you but i usually buy them by the thousand. have you considered that maybe a couple got out of your chameleons cage and then they breeded.

I have those same grey rubbermaid tubs. and i have two windows, one on the lid, and one on the side.

and no they didnt breed and suddenly get found, because these are my adult crickets. and theres no joke, 200+ roaming my place right now.
not to mention no crickets escape the 4 chameleons, or the dog. for long.

I feel your pain, I am going through the same thing :( they are EVERYWHERE!!!

a cricket here and there i could handle, big or small. i just caught it and either put it back, or threw it in a cage. no biggie.

but whatever kind of cricket i have... i swear, its on steroids. these things can jump high, and fast, and are master escape artists.

After they breed though, they just keep coming, thats the really awesome thing. You will have any size you need as well. After some time, they wont creep you out, they do grab your finger with their legs to hold on, and that feels creepy, like they are biting you, but its just the barbs on their legs.
More excited now?:p

But i dont want to spend 25 bucks (with shipping) on 25 damn roaches!!!!!!!

and they will never not creep me out. i have 500 supers and they creep me out, and ive had them since i got Kink!

and no im not excited.. at all. the barbs on the legs thing creeps me out.

im going to dream of giant roaches/crickets hybrids attacking me in my sleep now.

NTM, what if my chams dont like roaches, then im stuck with a colony they wont eat, or crickets who get everywhere, and frankly, i amd tired of showering with crickets.

Boooohahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahaah : takes a breath: hahahahahahahahahahaha! Lmaooo!!
About time...
Well I will send you a few to try with your Chams to see if they are a hit b4 you take the plunge. Send me you addy by PM. I'll send you a care package on Monday

Take the rear legs off the cricket..just pinch at the knee.

Take shipping tapes and line the parameter of the container you are using.

Problem solved..

If i didnt have 3000+ crickets.. that would work.. lol.

but i am going to try to the packing tape trick tomorrow, see if that helps.

Ive never had a mass cricket escape. Ive never really had any feeders escape:eek:

I wouldnt be happy if they did though:mad:

The dubias are very easy to contain, and handle in general.

In all seriousness, theres good and bad about both crickets and dubia, but I promise the good much more so outweighs the bad in dubia.

The worst thing about them I think, is that when non-cham people see your chams, they ask,"What does it eat?" I just say bugs:rolleyes: but if you show them you have a bunch of roaches, well it just changes how they see you a little:p

Be excited! Your cricket nightmare will turn into pleasant dubia dreams.;)

I'm not even joking a little bit when I said I had nightmares of those creatures the night I first got them. It was terrible. I don't think I can ever lower myself down to them again. I will take the noisy escapee crickets any day.
