Is it, perhaps, combining the increase in humidity with the increase in temperatures that makes it beneficial?
Just a note on warm mist humidifiers. They've gone out of fashion for use with human children because they tend to be bacteria breeding machines. Keepers of human children are not as good at maintaining enclosures as keepers of chameleons, so this should not be an issue for you.
Just take it away once a day and run first pure white vinegar through it, (it so stinks when it vaporizes, if you can put it outside you'll be happier) then one tank of water before returning it to the chameleon's area.
