I love you Penelope <3

At 7pm last night, Penelope was put to sleep very peacefully.

She now rests in a special spot in the garden that she loved to play in.

A massive thank you to everyone who read my threads and offered advice. I cannot express just how much I appreciate your support.

Unfortunately, she had cut across her wrist and the joint between her hand and arm was already too damaged and it would have been months of treatment until she may have been able to use it again. Her body was already too weak and she had fought so hard to get healthy that I simply couldn't ask her to go through months more of discomfort.

I miss you Pennie xxx

That is so hard. You give it your all and so did Penelope, but sometimes it just isn't enough. R.I.P. little girl

I am so sorry! I followed your posts and was hoping she would get better. I know you did all you could do for her and deciding to not let her suffer anymore was a very loving thing. Rest in peace little one!

Thank you everyone :)

I'm still sad, but I know it was best for her.. I miss her already.

On the plus side, the vet had told me that if it weren't for that cut, she would have only been a few more weeks away from recovering.. Thank you for all your advice as that wouldn't have been possible without your support.

So sorry to hear, it's such a shame that that so many chameleons arrive in new homes already very under cared for. You had an real uphill task to keep her alive, well done for your efforts even though it wasn't enough in the end. RIP little Penelope.

I'm so sorry. I followed your posts and was really pulling for you and your little one. It's so tough to lose a beloved friend! My thoughts are with you!

:( Sorry to hear this. Thanks for all your effort! We can tell how hard you tried, and were all pulling for her.

Thanks everyone for your support :)

I didn't realise just how many people read my threads! It's really comforting to know that.

I don't know if anyone else has had their chams react to their moods? Pennie was a pretty nice minty green when we had gone into the vet (she was so used to being handled it didn't phase her), but when I picked her up all teary eyed to say sorry and goodbye, she turned black instantly.. it was insane.. she knew she wasn't coming home.

I am speaking with a very reputable reptile importer here to add to mine and Pennies family in the next month or so, so you'll be hearing some happy news soon :)

Thank you all again.. I can't say thank you enough!

sorry to hear this news. valiant effort on your part. glad you are looking forward to your addition to the family. they will be lucky to have you, as penelope was. rip little loved one.

Oh NO! I am SO sorry to hear that Penelope didn't make it and in fact I have tears running down my cheeks now, reading this thread! My heart breaks for you and the pain you must be in, having to make such a difficult decision. RIP Penelope, you will be missed. :(

One thing I want to say, I haven't been on the forum for a long time but in the short time I've been here I haven't seen anyone who is new to the world of chameleons AND so absolutely dedicated, caring and full of love for a little reptile. I know that Penelope's life took a turn for the better when you met her and she knew you were there for her. Great job and I really look forward to some pictures of your new little chameleon, when the time is right for you to take that step again. :)
