Just be aware that something exotic will most likely be a wc cham, not cbb. So, you should be prepared for a vet visit and parasite treatments. Make sure you have the cash!

One way to narrow down your options will be to consider the climate in your house (hot in summer, too dry or humid, cool enough at night). Getting a more exotic cham that must have conditions you can't provide very easily (or without spending a lot more $) could result in misery for both of you.

This is very good advice!! Chameleons are amazing - especially some of the more "exotic" ones. However, many people have a panther or a veiled and think they want something "cooler" but don't know that it needs different care. They get something they can't properly care for and it ends up dying ... or someone like me takes it in and spends time and $$$ trying to save it. Not to mention the animal suffers needlessly - when all it needed was proper care from the start.

My husband and I have taken in several dying melleri and a couple other bad shape chameleons ... a few we've saved and a few we've lost ... we also have several WC chameleons. We have the time and resources to give them what they need. You should make sure you have the time and resources to care for whatever type of chameleon you get.

(I don't want to sound like I don't want you or anyone else to not get any kind of chameleon you wish - I just want people to get chameleons they can properly care for. )

couldnt be said better...ied have parsons right now if i knew i could house and care for them properly (im sure i can, but im still scared sh**less:D)

and yes yes yes...normally the "rare" species, or the harder to get ones are usually wc..

Melleri is where it is at...I envy those able to keep them. If i didnt have so freaking many i would own a small group. Water and cage requirements are out of this world to keep them happy. When they get all excited they have flaps that literally flare out just to show off. Its so awesome. They get gigantic. I can keep going..I have a w/c melleri im nursing to health and re selling. I would absolutely love to keep him i just cant give him what he truly needs as an adult.
