I need YOU guys to critique this cage that I built.

If you feed crickets you will have to put them into something. 6" of plexiglass won't cut it because crickets like to climb. It is easy to make a cup feeder. There should be directions somewhere. It might be better to put the plexi on the bottom of the cage....easier to clean and won't soak up the water.

OOoooooh I never thought of that...hmmm I might just have to do that :)

Oh, I thought you were getting two... Anyways, mealworms are hard to digest and can cause impaction because of their chitin. Impaction can lead to death, so only use meal worms like twice a month. Superworms are better, but your chameleon may be too small for the large ones so you'd have to buy smaller ones. They can eat many different kinds of roaches, but I suggest dubia roaches. They are easy to breed, don't climb glass, and are nice and meaty. You can buy the hissers, but they are expensive and most adult chameleons can't eat the adults because they're too big. Dubia are a bit smaller and fantastic!

You should also look into hornworms, wax worms, butter worms, pheonix worms, stick bugs, blue bottle flies, and possibly sow bugs. They are all good for variety and safe to feed.

Lol it's cool! Thanks 4 the tips! So like, I can get some stick insects, that you would normally keep as pets, and just breed them, then feed them to my cham? Do you know any online store that supplies/carries stick insects?

I have bought from mulberry farms before. They are good as long as you follow the instructions for feeding the worms. They are a little more work than crickets. I have a pair of ambilobe pathers. Did you check out the pictures on the link?

ok so here is my new male veiled! I also threw in some of the other animals I got at this reptile expo.....ok so the upload thing will only let me upload 5 pictures. well anyway, I also got a mack snow leo, and a rose hair tarantula which I'm super excited to have because I've wanted one for a really long time now. So check out these photos and..tell me what you think :) also, does anyone know what his coloring means right now? Is he like, stressed? I'm sure I'll get familiar as to what colors correspond with different moods. Thanks -JD

I'm pretty sure that that he's about...six months old... agree?

My 3-3.5 month old looks just as big as yours but his casque is slightly smaller. Mine is also developing his stripes and he's about 5 inches from snout to vent. I have no idea why he's so huge :)

When he's stressed, you'll probably know. Mine gets darker when he's stressed.

Looks good! Recommendation- Get two more REAL plants, possibly hibiscus? They generally are thick decent plants. With the addition of some decent plants and the addition fake vines, it should be a very very inviting home for your new friend.

I would say no more than 3 months he is just the same size as Jasper and he is for sure three months... How many sheds has he had since you have had him?

He just got him :)

If you post a picture with something that shows his size, we might be able to give you a possibly more accurate guess. And it will be a guess as there is no growth charm for chameleons.

Ok, I will do that the next time I get a chance. It'll probably be tomorrow or something. Thanks for the replies - JD
