I saw the coolest thing today...

I was walking my dog this morning in our little neighborhood, which is a weird mix of shabby, falling-down wrecks and very nice older homes - a lot of the neighbors are older hippy types. Anyway, I was going by a nicer home with a very nice, very lush, very well cared for yard, and noticed a large, aviary-type cage attached to their house.

I'm kind of a nosy person, so I stopped and stared at it for a while. It's at least 15ft across, roundish, has a sort of gazebo roof, and is very heavily planted with lush tropical plants. It actually looks just like those step-in aviaries you see at zoos, only a little smaller. I figured they kept tropical birds in there. But I caught some movement and looked a little closer... Panther chameleons! :) I could just see one male, and only because he was all fired up.

It was a nice surprise to find chameleons in my neighborhood, and this thing is awesome! It looks like it has a sort of patio in center with a seating area (it was a little too overgrown to see well), and is accessible through the house. A nice twist on the classic Florida screened porch.

sneak back and take a pic:p....always wanted to see how one of those looks:rolleyes:

HaHaHa..LOL:D...didn't think of that!!!!:rolleyes:Have this picture in my head of someone being dragged away with a zoom lens!!

Carefull... If I saw someone snooping around my awesome setup I would have my guard dog persona on. I would go knock and ask them about it. Who knows... Maybe it is one of our members.

I'll take a picture this evening when I walk the dog (assuming it's not 110 degrees out, or pouring, or both). Obviously, I'd never trespass or harass the homeowners, but it is visible from the street. I was planning on getting a few snaps of the neighborhood anyway to send to my parents so they can see where I live :)

How weird would that be!!to have another member living so close to you!:p and you didn't even know!

All right, here are a couple pics from the street (not close enough to see any chams). It's actually bigger than I thought at first:

The house is off to the left. I think they also have a little solar panel on the top, maybe for lighting? Zoomed in:

Anyway, I want my own now :p

Come on what kind of neighbor are you?? Next time leave the dog at home and take your cham for a walk. It will give you something in common right off. It's worth a try isn't it?:D

NOW, that's cool! WOW! I'm speechless. I'd love to see some inside shots!

I'll send them some chocolate covered strawberries from California, if they'll let you take some pics of the inside for the forum!!!
