its 1:30 am - I head Olive squeaking - so I came down to check her - she is having slugs in her sleep- one is stuck to her , just hanging in her tail - she has her eyes closed, I am sure she is sleeping ( or manybe not ) should I turn on her lights or let her go in the dark - she has been haveing slugs for this will be the 3rd day - she was huge, and still look very big- should I let her go - she looks just like she is sleeping - but there are slugs hanging out of her - I dont know what to do :( -

I wish I had some advice, but I dont. I am hoping Olive is ok. i would say leave her be.

I think the best thing is to leave her be probably, but thats not based on experience. I bet it is hard to just let her be knowing whats going on, but Olive seems to like doing things the hard way, so I am sure she will pull through fine... Maybe its not a bad thing. Don't you wish you had gave birth in your sleep and woke up to it all being over? Kidding, but seriously, you guys will be in my thoughts until you give the all clear..

:( she is squeaking again - and the slugs look more like yoke now- the more she has, she softer they are getting - I took a pic - she is up again - she has been having slugs for this is the 3rd day now - I was worried at 2 days- now I am REALLY worried - because they are just like dripping out of her - and she is still pretty big - she is pushing, squeaking - and dripping :(

Ok I just had the same problem with the Jackson that I took back to PetSmart. She is still there under doctor’s care for observation. When she was passing them I left her till morning then I wiped it way gently the next morning. She then passed a few more and was done. The only thing that worries me is that yours is has been doing it for three days. I would take her and a sample with you to the vet. They need to check and see if the Slugs have any puss in them, if so the Vet that is taking care of mine said that she would have to be treated for infection. (???) I am just going by what MY experience was. My Jackson was clear of puss, but was not eating. Her eating has pick back up and she is doing much better, but we are going to watch her for the next two weeks to make sure that she stay that way.

yes, they are not like a reg/ slug- they are really gooey - did yours also do it in her sleep/ or at night? Olive has not went off her feed- or drink - but she has never done this before- its like with each one- they are softer, and the sack around them is thinner- the first slugs were hard and normal - but now they are getting runny- I fear they will break inside her

I know that the vet said High temps and stress can cause them to do this also. what is the temp of her cage? The vet did not know too much about this and had to confer with a friend out west. They have been talking back and forth and sending pictures. Yes she did have them that night, but she started that evening and had them though the night and stoped the next morning. How many total do you think she has passed? Mine passed about 9-12 and was done.

I don't have any information to add, but I wanted to say that I'm sorry she's going through this. Does your vet have an answering service so you can leave him/her a message? I hope she's doing better this morning.

Cheryl, I sure hope Olive is ok. I have no experience with a Jackson so all I can add is my well wishes and prayers.

I am sorry to hear about your little girl. I have never owned a female cham,
so could someone please explain to me what it is that is coming out of her?
What is a 'slug"?
I am guessing it's a egg that did not form?

They are like infertile eggs for live bearing chameleon species

:( :( I went to be at 4 am - she was resting, had passed 2 more- now, he abdomen looks even bigger - she is restless - pacing up and down her cage- she & Max have an apt at the vet already for Monday- I wanted to take her in on Thur, but he is only in on M/Thur- and he was out of town still on Thur - so they did not feel it was an emergency ( and at the time it was not- they were both going in more for check ups- her, because she is so big- and Max has been on a 4 !!! week hunger strike - he has eaten almost nothing in 4 weeks- but he is still drinking, and I spoke w/ his original owner, and he said he does strike like this in the fall- but he has not acted right ever since the spider bite - so I just wanted him to get a check up ) anyway...she has passed nothing so far - and that worries me more than her passing runny ones- all I can keep thinking is her uterus broke - she does not seem in pain - she even wants to eat- but I am not sure if I should feed her- but I think Olive would eat no matter what was going on w/ her- she is a big cham anyway- ( huge for a Jax even not gravid) and she did not get that way by being shy at the table - I think she is more upset by the fact she got skipped at feeding time- should I let her eat a silk ? something mushy - the other odd thing is she is puffing out her throat area ? she did have an x ray about 8 weeks ago, and it did show a belly full of eggs - but I could not count them - she is up to 14 that I have seen - but she also lives outside in a HUGE cage ( 7'X6'x4')until a few days ago, so if she passed anything out there I would have never found it - I am so nerve wracked !! she looks like a lime - :(

Cheryl I am so sorry I went to bed early. You should have called the house phone. As I said a few minutes ago, I would feed her, lightly, as she will still need the energy. That is nothing but a guess.

this is how big she is this am - and she has yoke all over her - why is she getting bigger ? I can see she is still in labor- she ate 2 roaches - ( and wants more !! - thats Olive ) and she is also doing that weird head thing again - this - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=567769596589329&set=vb.100000688817359&type=3&theater

I am staying away from her - watching from afar.... if anyone has any info/advice/sedatives.... we are up to 15 slugs that I have seen/found - thank God these are not babies - that would be more than I think she could have handled

I wonder if the live bearer can have Coelomitis like my precious Sadie did???
I am praying for you and your sweet Olive.

Oh wow, she really is huge. The head movement is the same as when Rex head bobs at something. She is probably doing it because she is stressed. I'm sorry she is going through this. I am hoping for the best for you and olive.
